Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 04, 2011 5:19 pm Hi All, I have decided that I am done with renting and have finally decided to build my first ever home. Very exciting time for me! I have recently had my finance approved (thank god) and settlement has now been done. Our next step is to attend our Prestart meeting which I am looking forward to! What do people think of building in Wattle Grove, WA? Its a new estate called Flametrees Estate (which I think is now called Willow Lake Estate) I am building with Ideal Homes, does anyone have any opinion on them or built with them? Thanks Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 2Mar 04, 2011 5:23 pm Hi There, Welcome to the forum, and congrats on getting to this stage of your journey. I have heard of Wattle Grove but haven't been there, what area is it in? Check this thread out - they too have built with Ideal Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25563&p=676552&hilit=ideal+homes#p676552 The road to success is always under construction House completed April 2011 - slowly making it a home... Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 4Mar 04, 2011 6:12 pm Hi Agent 123, I love Wattle Grove, it's a beautiful place. Which house are you building with Ideal Homes? I've never heard of them before. Like you, we are first homes builders but we've taken the plunge into building a house at a more mature age . It's been a very interesting learning curve for us although a tad stressful at times. It seems like a nice design except maybe the front of the house could look a bit plain. It sure has been an interesting learning curve for us as well and its probably something we wouldnt want to do again! Who are you building with? Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 7Mar 05, 2011 7:25 am Hello, hello, We are building the "Caulfield" through Plunkett Homes - I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The only changes we've made is to add french doors to the Grand room (lounge) & study, enclose the ensuite and switch the verandah leading off the main bedroom to the side facing the alfresco (as this suits us better). I just took a look at the Ideal Homes website and your Atalanta homes looks fabulous -- good choice! I wouldn't worry too much about the fact no one has heard of Ideal homes as a lot of the bigger building companies work under more than one company name. Supergran Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 8Mar 07, 2011 6:18 pm Hi Everyone Here is my house design. Its called the Atalanta. Hope you are able to open it! http://www.idealhomes.com.au/4bed.html# Please let me know what you think. I worried the kitchen may be way too small Cheers Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 9Mar 08, 2011 7:21 am Hi Agent 123, Everyone has different ideas as to what they want in a home (if we didn't, life would be very boring ). As long as you are happy with the kitchen and it suits your needs then I wouldn't stress. Remember, any changes made at pre-start will cost you big time. Thanks for the advice Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 11Mar 10, 2011 10:26 pm We are going to look at a few blocks in Wattle Grove on the weekend - but are 99% sure that is where we want to build - so we may be neighbours! Your house looks lovely. We are looking at a cottage block with a 3x2 on it. I have a friend who build with Ideal and was happy with them. Yeah Wattle Grove is one of my favourite areas so Im glad I found a nice block there. Im glad to hear of someone going through Ideal Homes! havent come across many so thanks! Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA - WAITING 13Apr 17, 2011 1:03 pm Well its now been just over a month since our prestart meeting and nothing has happened yet. All thats been done is an installation of a tap on the land and thats it! How long does it take to get a slab down? I asked Ideal Homes a few days ago and they said it will probably take around 2 weeks for scheduling to begin but no clear answers. Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 15Apr 17, 2011 7:28 pm We were told by HBC that slab would be about 4 weeks after pre-start meeting so hopefully Ideal will get your slab and house going soon! What size block did you get in Wattle Grove? We brought a cottage block and are still waiting on titles going through - but that'll hopefully be very soon. There is a lot of work happening out there at the moment - I think the next stage is about to be released. Hope things start to move quickly for you. Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 16Apr 17, 2011 8:03 pm Thanks for the post Amanda We got a 501sqm block on Magnesia Rd. Have you heard of it? Its the last block on the street. Whereabouts are you building? Yes there is a lot of progress going on in the whole suburb. We are in Willow Lake Estate. Im not sure but does HBC own Ideal HOmes? Have you had your prestart yet? Re: Building with Ideal Homes in Wattle Grove, WA 17Apr 19, 2011 6:21 pm Hi Agent 123, HBC = Homebuyers Centre so no connection to Ideal homes, I just presume the timing would be similar for most companies. We are in the same area, just closer to Hale Road - the bit that has recently been cleared. We haven't done pre-start yet - we just got our pre-start file, so should be doing pre-start in next few weeks. We are due to settle on the land on May 13, so hopefully that won't be delayed.
