Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 04, 2011 1:06 pm Hello folks! Just getting in early right now, being the organised peson I am! *cough* My house is going into council for approval most likely next week. My partner and I are going to Europe for 4 weeks in 6 months. Its looking like its about to clash, as it stands now. I would rather NOT be paying mortgage repayments on the full build if we can avoid it, however we would stop short of "delaying" the builder. My question is what happens if we fligh out on the 6th of Sept, and they arn't ready for PCI until, say, the 12th? Do we have the right to delay PCI by 3 weeks due to personal circumstances? Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46664 Building in Baldivis, Western Australia. First home, with Impressions. Would love it if you were to stop by some time! What happens if client is overseas when PCI is due? 2Mar 04, 2011 1:35 pm I'm not quite sure if your builders will work around ur schedule or not but with our builders we told them that we would be might overseas at the time of the slab being completed and when the invoice would be sent out and if we could delay the starting date until we came back they said it would be fine. They did nt end up delaying it and site works started two days before we went away and got the invoice while overseas and the due date of the invoice being due they day before we arrived back into the country we had to transfer money into my fiancees parents account to pay the first payment for us as the builders would have charged us heaps in fees. It was a nightmare. Speak to ur builder and c how it goes . Re: What happens if client is overseas when PCI is due? 3Mar 05, 2011 7:43 am Basically if the delay is more than 7days you are liable for interest on the outstanding amount. the amount of interest should be written on your contract but is normally around 15% per annum. Best advice is talk about it with your builder early. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! I had couple of quotations from pre-covid times, I am quite sure they are more expensive now plus with current USD rate and shipping costs it makes them really unaffordable. 6 24304 Thanks. There are plenty of builders around my suburb. I'll make sure to do some door-to-door knocking, or note their building details on the temp fence. 4 4674 The concreter will take and reuse.
