Happy at Home Re: BUILDING update 404Aug 08, 2008 1:19 pm fireplace dunno (trying to decide between silver, red or black lol), splashback is tomorrow's decision (takes a week to make but I'm leaning toward platinum shimmer), walls are Dulux Carrot Flower in DDs bedroom and still not sure about our bedroom wall as curtains are the big decision atm! 
Have to decide today whether to go with panel glides or blockout+sheers in the main bedroom and rumpus which has a slider. Both rumpus and main br windows are 3200 x 2400 so too big for anything else. Also have to decide whether to get a roller blind for DDs bedroom (3 long windows) or Romans. All three rooms face the front so I'd like them to look similar from the outside. Currently leaning toward romans in DD's bedroom and blockout+sheers in our bedroom and upstairs rumpus   . I purchased some fabric from Ebay which arrived and was nice but more suitable for a girl's bedroom curtains than our bedhead. Also like the thermal control of curtains as opposed to sliders as there is a fair bit of glass at the front (20 degrees south west for Yak_Chat ).
We want the place as finished as possible before we move in so we might hang out at the rellies for a couple of weeks until it is all completed. Tentative move in date is 30th August. Re: BUILDING update 406Aug 09, 2008 3:33 pm We love our rainheads

I think your kitchen will have the biggest wow factor with the black granite and red splash top. I suppose do you want to play it safe with colours that blend or go for it with striking features...either way it will look fantastic, just a different look. I cant wait to see your home completed

Mrs B Hi Mrs B DH and I have decided on the black granite with red splashback. Granite is arriving from Vic. tomorrow so we will go out and have a look mid week. Stone guy reckons it is a rich black with flecks of dark brown in it. I absolutely LOVED your granite Mrs B so when he mentioned it I immediately thought it was a goer. Yes we are supposed to have handover on the 18th but I don't think they will make the date especially if we change the benchtops. I'm predicting end of the month myself but I'm not too fussed as it will take 3 weeks for our floors to be completed and they start installation on Monday. We'll also do the deck, paving and fencing in the next few weeks while we wait for the house. Not much to do inside now. Good luck VJ looking forward to seeing your beautiful house completed. I think we had our maximum 'stressed out' period a month or so back and after too many arguments decided that building is not worth getting divorced or losing sleep over .
Building has been very difficult for us. We designed the house from scratch, tried to incorporate as many eco options as possible and moved 3 x. Its been about 2 years in the planning and construction. I spoke with the builder today and he said they were on target for handover next week, but I gave him another week as the floors won't be ready until end month anyway. It probably means he won't do anything for a week but if he lets me have my granite I'll forgive him.
We'll move in with my parents this w.e. which is close to the build, and start on all the paving and landscaping next week. Either way we should be in by end of the month so I'm feeling excited but not stressed atm . AND my 5 weeks leave starts Monday Re: BUILDING update 420Aug 12, 2008 10:10 am WOOOOHOOOO!!
