Paula Re: BUILDING update 224May 17, 2008 11:48 pm It looks great Dy, can i ask if you are going to keep the portico/porch rainhead zinc, or paint to to match the render?
The colours look great and the red is a great feature to the facade... Love the cut outs in the hallway too... Hope the inspection tomorrow morning is not too stressful... ![]() ![]() Re: BUILDING update 225May 17, 2008 11:54 pm Hi P
I'm not sure if we are keeping the zinc or painting them the same as the render. If we paint the rainhead on the Dune wall it will look almost the same colour anyway. Not sure about the one of the red wall. Any suggestions?? Its on our list to ask the Builder tomorrow. I don't think it will be too stressful as the builder is pretty good. Tradies are another matter but no doubt we'll sort it out (I'm such a Pollyanna ![]() Re: BUILDING update 226May 18, 2008 9:46 am I don't know why but I love the contrast of the rain head things. I've never seen any like that before. I guess they are common where you are but they are almost a feature in themselves. ![]() I think it will look great whether you match them to the walls they are against or not. Love the red feature. Looks fabulous with the other colour. Re: BUILDING update 228May 18, 2008 7:30 pm Dy,
You've got very nice kitchen area... I love it when it has a window or a door nearby so natural light would come it. Nice bi-folds... and the window at the side. They are right.. the red feature facade looks great! As for taste .... I've changed my mind so many times I was bound to hit on a good thing eventually ![]() ![]() We went to the house this morning and guess what .... vandals had come in over night and kicked in all the l/l internal walls ![]() Idiots. ![]() Builder will have temporary doors up tomorrow so it we will be at lock up. He also gave us the handover date for end June (4-5 weeks). Gyprock is finished and the carpenters were there today flushing the upper level walls. It should only take them a couple of hours to fix the damage caused by the vandals but it is still a hassle and will cost someone ![]() Next step is the bathroom vanities, then the tiling then painting. We will have our wooden floors installed prior to painting which is a risk but it is better for the final finish of the floors. I'd be so angry.....glad to hear though that it would only be a few hours work.... Can the builder take any precautions to avoid it happening again? Keeping our fingers crossed for you, for the end of June handover!!!! Sounds so close but yet so far away doesn't it??? Hey at least you are getting a date though....it's better than "soon"!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() BTW Dy, how is the water damage??? Re: BUILDING update 231May 18, 2008 8:28 pm Hi P
Water damage is pretty bad and so are the holes in the walls where the vandals kicked in the gyprock. I think the builder was trying to make us feel better by playing down the amount of time it will take to repair it all. I haven't taken any pics as it is just too depressing. The builder is going to put up a temporary front door tomorrow to make sure they can't get in again. But as he said, if they want to come back they only have to kick in a glass window. ![]() He rang the police and reported it and he is stationing someone at the house until the early hours in case they return. He was pretty upset as they only finished the gyprock and downstairs flushing yesterday and now they will have to do it again tomorrow. I'm glad the kitchen wasn't in ![]() ![]() Re: BUILDING update 232May 18, 2008 8:35 pm I am so sorry to hear it Dy, i gasped when i read your post and my hubby ran over when i gasped to find out what's happened. I'd be in tears if it were us....i can only guess what you're going through at the moment.... ![]() ![]() I suppose if you look at it in a positive light, at least it was not after handover, and you don't have to worry about insurance claims etc, you can leave it to the builder to deal with. Good idea with the street light...that should be somewhat of a deterrant to these idiots!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: BUILDING update 233May 18, 2008 8:47 pm thanks again P
I'm numb at the moment. With all the stress of moving twice and building we are just rolling with the punches so to speak. But the support on this forum is fabulous ![]() And best of all DH and I will be taking 6 weeks long service leave when we move in to get the house in order. YIPPPPEEEEE Re: BUILDING update 235May 18, 2008 9:14 pm 's ok Bec.
I should probably be upset but to be honest it is something I almost expected. If they touch my kitchen or wooden floors tho' they had better keep running. They will be safe NOWHERE ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: BUILDING update 236May 18, 2008 10:18 pm Oh Dee elle I can't believe it. It sounds horrendous and you are doing a great job of putting on a brave face. I'd be devastated.
Hope it all gets sorted soon and is the last hiccup. Re: BUILDING update 237May 18, 2008 10:40 pm Oh man, Dy that's horrible. I'd be wanting to wring their necks ![]() It's probably kids, unfortunately. I'd be so mad, I'd want to find out where they lived and go and kick in all their walls ![]() ![]() I hope that the builders can get the damage and the balcony sorted out for you quickly to get you back on track. thanks again for the support. i'd like to do a lot of things to the little so and so's but I'll control myself and vent in here instead ![]() thankfully nothing happened over night so hopefully they've moved on to more productive and socially acceptable pastures ![]() it is still exciting tho' and the damage doesn't really detract (well only a little ... ) from the fact that we are looking at handover in 4-5 WEEKS. We can't wait to see our tiles and bathroom stuff going in. ![]() Thank you ponzutwo and StructuralBIMGuy. Appreciate your response 3 9770 Thanks jas25t!
