BUILDING update

My gosh, DeeElle, your house looks very nice!
I love the colours... very clean/sleek!
I am looking forward to other render colour that would contrast the main colour of the render.

You're now way ahead of me! :cry:

went to the block tonight and yes the murray red has been painted on the porch and it looks ...... RED..... <no surprises there> :wink:

The painters were laughing at me today when I turned up on site to check the progress. They've been all over Adelaide looking for Murray River Red when in fact its Murray Red (yes I know Mish you told me a hundred times but I still had River stuck in my head). :roll:

I love the colour so thanks Mish. DH is in a state of shock but he'll get over it. Its a deep dark red.

Also ordered the kitchen today which is light grey (mist) gloss upper cupboards and pantry cupboards, and black semi matte cupboards on the bottom and island bench. I've mixed textures but it should look fine. Also used aluminum edges on the pot drawers and on the kicks and shadow line.

Have changed the benchtop to Nova Aurora to add some glitz :wink:

pics tomorrow on the front facade.

went to the house today for our daily visit to see the subbies putting up the gyprock. Saw two subbies fight it out (literally head butting each other) at the back of the house. Wayyy tooooo much testosterone happening there ::frown::

Heres a pic of the front elevation ... Jasper still not complete as it will wrap around the front wall to the inside of the porch (left wall). The Murray Red looks a bit pink on the screen but in fact is a deep red.

Do you have a colour board. I would love to see the internal colours you have chosen. Also what is the cork floor like? Maintanence required?

Not sure about cork ... we aren't having it. Floors throughout are solid wood spotted gum. Carpet in bedrooms and upstairs are Quest French Toast 100% wool twist pile. Staircase is spotted gum. Stainless steel stairwell rail and balustrade on the balcony.

Internal colours:

1/4 strength hog bristle throughout.

Amerind laminate cupboards - kitchen
black coal lower cupboards with aluminium kicks and shadow line
mist (light grey) gloss upper cupboards and pantry
nova aurora benchtops
glass splash (probably same as front render Murray Red)
Miele appliances

Bathrooms all the same
white rectified tiles on the walls 500 x 300
stone grey 400 x 400 tiles on the floors
white gloss cupboards
C/S ginger benchtops
aluminium shadow line on benchtops

laundry and wir same
laminex concept oak cupboards
aluminium shadow line in laundry

don't know yet about feature walls. I just bought a heap of ribbons to make up a curtain wall behind my DD bed and am on the lookout for a fancy light for her room. Currently considering a red material shade to mix with the red pink and white theme I am doing in her room.

Will mix and match our existing antiques with modern furniture. Found some great barstools today on sale which we will purchase for the kitchen and antique Tibetan side tables for our bedroom. Hoping it will all blend together as it is an eclectic mix :lol:

Focusing on dark colours, splashes of red and silver. No colourboard as we have changed so much and don't have all the chips.

Dy, the toilet is still an issue and we are still waiting to get access to the house to have a look ourselves... Put it this way, i would say by looking through the window that there would be less than 10cm between the shower screen's glass door and the side of the toilet....

No we are not happy chappies at the moment, but will wait to have a look in person, but even then if they are the measurements - i will be asking for the slab to be jack-hammered and the plumbing and everything else corrected.

Rang the builder and he is furious. Apparently the gyprock ppl walked on the balcony which had just been waterproofed and caused havoc. Now we have water pouring into our bedroom. :evil:

. These are the same guys who were stuffing around yesterday head butting one another at the build. Obviously they should have been paying attention to the work rather than being jack asses :evil:

Thanks Dy, for us its such a silly thing that IS on the plans and SHOULD NOT have happened. We will be sticking to our guns!!!

I hope the builder can get some tarps up on the roof quick smart to avoid further damage to the bedroom Dy.

Ooh I feel sorry for you, the amount of times these things happen is ridiculous. Another common problem is trades leaving roof tiles off. :evil:

So we are all meeting at the build on Sunday to assess the damage. It will probably put us behind schedule. They also took a massive chip out of the front render above our bedroom. %#!&

sorry for hijacking Nic

I'm going to make sure they fix the chip out of the hebel so it is indiscernable. Everyone has been so careful except the gyprock tradies.

Honestly how do 3 guys and their supervisor do so much damage when they aren't even meant to be near the balcony :evil:

We'll be visiting 2 x a day for the rest of the build to make sure we identify issues quickly and they are addressed. Thankfully our SS and builder are still rocks.

Internal gyprock completed although they will have to come back on Monday and fix the ceiling and walls in the main bedroom which are steadily dripping from the storms last night.
