Wow.. that's exciting!

We only saw the slab preparation one day and the slab already poured the next day...
We wanted to take a half-day off for that day to take some photos and video of the slab pouring... but decided not to go ahead with it.. very busy at work before Christmas.

We have our slab but they 'forgot' to lay the terrace along with the slab (as per the signed off plan)

Builder is coming over tonight to explain .... should be interesting :twisted:

This will be a test of our negotiating skills ... builder is a very nice guy so it is hard to get tough

oh I feel a bit sorry for our builder :oops:

He has forgotten some of our changes as his business is growing very quickly. Subsequently he is paying for us to have the 4.5 x 4 Kerpu decking instead of slab, which is fine by us.

We've also confirmed the Comfort Plus windows so we are in piggy heaven. :lol:

Life is good (todays version of events

) I can't recommend our builder enough ... great guy and very accommodating :wink:

Hower, I must admit the excitement wanes as the work progresses. You'd expect the opposite, but that's the case with us. We're supposedly only 4-6 weeks from completion but after going through the stressful journey we're almost too tired to care...

I know what you mean ... I am completely over selections and don't want to look at another tile, piece of carpet, pile of wood or window frame ever again. Builder told us we still have to select the fireplace ... and go back to the kitchen company to make sure the cupboards are correct :evil:

But that should be it :roll:

But we are still excited about the progress. Frame has been ordered and expected delivery is next week.

P.. I will follow up Kerpau decking and post a pic on this thread ... I haven't seen it myself so need to investigate :wink:

thanks guys for the support - it rained today so hopefully that will be good for the slab.

We have our first invoice :shock:

.... but we expected it would arrive soon. It doesn't have a pay by date so I'm assuming its 7 days from receipt of invoice (probably somewhere in the contract but I am too slack to find it).

I'll send it off to the bank on Monday and they can deal from there.

On another matter ... the decking is Batu which is a more stable Malaysian timber (not Kapur)

Here is a pic of Batu ... seems to have a similar appearance to spotted gum. M just wants to make sure it is reasonably hard and wont require too much upkeep :roll:

Most Malaysian Timber is clear fell forestry - do you know if yours is any different?

The Batu is sourced from 'managed forest projects' and we have been told it is from legally allocated concession areas. Hope they are right

I've not seen that done before - I think you said it's the ensuite. Any idea why they did it that way? One thing I can think of is that the want the level of the tiles (once installed) to be flush with the slab.

I know they will be laying another slab under the cupboards in the ensuite/bathroom so we can have tiled kickers. Not sure if this has anything to do with the levels but I will follow up with the site supervisor.
