I hope it's all sorted for you soon. I agree, go get a hair cut, a facial and go shopping. Well that's what I'd need!
........and then send the bill to the builder

I'd like to say that we have a bad case of the 'jinx' but I think it can be more realistically put down to poor project management. As to my current mood ... it fluctuates between cranky, furious and lots of inappropriate humour and laughter. I am no doubt losing the plot but thankfully DH is in the same frame of mind . If the termites know whats good for them - they'll stay well clear and never set foot in your home!!! What a day you must have had! I can only imagine and totally understand how you must feeling ... Take care, Re: BUILDING update 583Sep 10, 2008 12:53 pm OMG - I've only just caught up on what's happened to you!!! I wouldn't be able to handle that situation at all well I'm really getting stressed and worried about the final few months of our build and what 'surprises' the future holds....
Stay strong Dee and GIVE THEM HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: BUILDING update 584Sep 10, 2008 1:29 pm I had a read of this through my lunchtime and felt physically ill.....and I don't think it was the chicken.....try to stay a bit unemotional (I know it's hard), remember it's only your home once you've moved in, till then it's a business transaction and the der-brain builder is not meeting his end of the bargain....so give him a good

now I have a terrible headache! just thinking of all the mess your builder has done.. makes me feel sick! now i'm worried about our handover too... all i can say is, they have to pay for all the damages they've done... and compensate you for all the troubles you've been experiencing. you're a srong woman. i would go crazy if that happens to me ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! The parents took pity on us and invited us for dinner. We're living in the house (unpainted mind you) with no towel rails etc and no one has cleaned the site AT ALL except for us. But I had a great shower yesterday in my own bathroom with its great rainhead that I picked up from the plumbing supplier because the builder forgot to get it.
Yes popped the benchtop ... thats what the glass guy called it. Basically the benchtop moved out 3 mm near the stove coz they were forcing the cook top. But the aircon is going in tomorrow. We have approx 7 trades visiting daily (newbies mind you ). Our new wooden floors have lifted in spots due to the water / sewerage leaking out of the drains so had the flooring guy back today to assess damage. Must go the food is ready ... will update you all soon. Cheers and thank you everyonefor your support. Re: BUILDING update 593Sep 11, 2008 9:09 pm I take my hat off to you Dy. You sound so calm......I'd have lost the plot by now!
Hope it all gets fixed for you asap. Happy at Home Re: BUILDING update 595Sep 11, 2008 10:00 pm to_do_list Paula What do you mean by Poped your bench top?? Re: BUILDING update 598Sep 25, 2008 4:38 pm TDL you were right ... there was no phone line so we had to get the electrician out again to wire for Telstra . Just got dial up in fact. What a rigmarole!
But we are loving being in our new house despite some of the annoying left over things that need doing. I must admit ... we are only living on the ground floor. Our DD has all her toys and bed upstairs but won't go up their at night alone and prefers to be in our company. Only child syndrome. AND cleaning a big house is LABOUR INTENSIVE ...I spend all my days cleaning the benchtops in the open plan area lol. Just like my DM warned! Despite all this I absolutely love our kitchen .... it is simply BEAUTIFUL. I'll take some pics tonight and load them on here. Its been a hard road but we love the design and layout. We are starting on the garden this weekend so will be trying to find decent grass next. They don't sell Empire Zoysia in SA . Re: BUILDING update 599Sep 25, 2008 6:12 pm Great to hear from you Dy... looking forward to the pics!
Sounds like there's light at the end of the tunnel... but with the way things have been going it'll be a semi heading your way!!!! At least you are in...... and as for your rant.... I would have lost the plot ages ago. My choice words would have been heard in Port Augusta!!!! Can't wait for the pics and so glad things sound pretty much as ok as the can be. You still are amazing. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: BUILDING update 600Sep 25, 2008 6:22 pm I can see your excitement about moving is in your thread aswell as all your heartache. It really is not fair that the builder can drag his feet when there are easy simple things that he has to do just to get the job finished.
Surely as much as you want him gone he should want to be finished so he can move on. I don't understand builders who don't finish their work properly. Don't they feel the mighty cloud that hangs over their head. Anyway to brighter notes Can't wait to see all your pics now your in.
