Browse Forums Building A New House Re: BUILDING update 441Aug 16, 2008 7:32 pm Sheers are about $35 m2. It is costing us 1.2K per window (2400 x 3180) for wave sheers and block out on a double track system. We ordered dark charcoal sheers with a fine thin stripe and off white block out. A bit heavier than some of the thin sheers available. DD's 3 Romans (900 x 2100) are costing 1K. All up 3.4K for 3 windows. Curtain guy works from referrals only and seems funky, modern and knows what works in a room. Happy to PM his details to anyone.
The DG fabric in DDs room is Kesari - http://www.designersguild.com/all-colle ... r/kesari/# Although DDs fabric is not shown - its pale yellow and pale green with gold. Nice for her room. edit: I should add we purchased the DG fabric separately - off ebay in fact . Re: BUILDING update 442Aug 16, 2008 8:42 pm couple more pics from our visit today. floors have been installed and our flooring guy is starting on the stairs next week. Sand/polish starts Friday. Our carpenter was there today installing the skirting boards but he was a bit annoyed when the SS asked him to stop as the boards need to be sanded first.
DH asked the carpenter to put up the batten for the desk in the study (thanks Nic we bought the same one from Ikea) 2.6 m , so it wasn't a complete waste of his time . He also gave us an alternative for the dreaded manhole (or as DH calls it the 'access point') which we will move to the top of the stairwell so you can step straight into l/l roofspace from the upper storey! I can't stand the mess they've left behind and would rather clean it myself than see the mud and crap tracked through the house by tradies . Sinks have been delivered and we are now waiting for the benchtops which should be in on Friday. This will be the last pics for a while as we are moving into my parents house and I'm on leave so no access to work poota . Might drop into HO now and then for a catch up and chat when visiting the rellies . DD heading back from the playground after site visit. Covered in mud. bleary eyed after her friends party but happy. Interesting light switches I've never seen them before! Are you having them throughout? yes she is a little cherub. But demonic when she loses her temper lol. The same light switches will be throughout. I think there is a cover over the translucent plastic, and there is a little light in the switch which shines red if it is turned on. That's all layman's terms of course ... DH would have the technical lingo if he was awake . Re: BUILDING update 448Aug 16, 2008 10:05 pm pasey25 I'm 99% sure those are PDL Modena 800 switches (which we'll also be getting) ty pasey25 That sounds right! Re: BUILDING update 450Aug 16, 2008 10:11 pm donuts Thanks! Don't worry I get you ... is clearer than technical lingo for me lol The tradies always have a laugh when I'm on site. 'Can you please move that thingamajig over there but don't let it get in the way of that other thing hanging from the ceiling!' 'and she's not even blonde' they're probably thinking. Re: BUILDING update 451Aug 16, 2008 10:15 pm Looks fantastic Dy, i love the colours and the back room looks so bright and airy!

Congrats on the handover - 25th isn't far away now Dana -------------------------- Building with DFH - carpet installed! Re: BUILDING update 455Aug 18, 2008 7:59 pm Well I feel it is ok atm to admit that we are having major problems with our builder. It is Xtremely stressful and difficult and I don't really want to say more than it has been happening for a while and I really hope we will be able to finish the build.
Enough said. The deck started today and the paving starts tomorrow. All financed by us. I think it will be a miracle if we are in by the 25th but lets see. I' m having dreadful nightmares atm . I'm on dial up at our parents so I'll keep you all updated on events and give you the story once we have handover. At this stage I am hopefull it will be on the 25th and if not there will be uncomfortable repurcussions for everyone, not just the builder. Re: BUILDING update 456Aug 18, 2008 8:02 pm oh no, hope everything can get resolved quickly. You haven't given much away in the tone of your writing. Keeping my fingers crossed for a 25th handover for you. Happy at Home Re: BUILDING update 457Aug 18, 2008 8:07 pm Oh Dy, I am so sorry I thought everything was going good with your build..
I really hope you get the handover date you hoped for, and the build is complete to your standards. Please keep us posted My karma ran over your dogma Re: BUILDING update 458Aug 18, 2008 8:19 pm yes well i've kept a happy face coz I know the tradies are watching the blog but to be honest I've had enough.
