Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 19, 2007 8:30 pm Hi Everyone!!!
Yesterday we had our colour selection. MAN! What an experience... it was so exciting at first, but holy crap I was so over it by the end of the day... I'm so happy we had an interior designer there for us, we wouldn't know where to start! We actually selected a lot of darker colours then we expected which is surprising... Anyway once I get all the information back, I'll let everyone know what colours we selected. Just wondering, what colours have people selected and are happy with or hate?? Also, if I've got darker colours, does it look better if with more lighting? Re: Colour Selection - Light/Dark? 2Dec 19, 2007 8:36 pm The more natural lighting the more the colours wash out slightly. If you had a professional with you……I can safely say, you will be very happy with the out come! I completely understand you. Among all selections we did....... it was the colour that we got so confused. I felt that it was a make or break decision so we were so worried. Good thing Michelle was there to guide us. Although we didn't end up choosing the colours that she recommended (ooopppsss... sorry) due to her limited Bristol colour swatches, she was able to help us with the colours that would blend well. A professional help is really the best when it comes to colours.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Why Michelle? You were a great help, indeed! When we saw the 2 colours that you had chosen for us for the exterior of our house, we understood why you chose it (the principle behind it) and we applied that in choosing the final colours. Again, we didn't end up choosing the colours that you suggested, but we applied the principle that you taught us. Had you not given those suggestions, we wouldn't have easily chosen our exterior colours. We used the same principle, just went to the brownish/greenish shade that we like. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Colour Selection - Light/Dark? 7Dec 21, 2007 9:15 am What were your colour choices? Can you list them for us.
I love all of ours, but then I chose them!! However they have come up looking great! Just build it the way I want and everything will be okay. Re: Colour Selection - Light/Dark? 8Dec 21, 2007 9:15 am What were your colour choices? Can you list them for us.

Re: Colour Selection - Light/Dark? 9Dec 21, 2007 11:10 am BMP you may kill me. your bricks look the same as mine.. I'll have to get the name of them... I'm getting the double height bricks with Flush off white mortar.
Garage Door - Paperbark Gutter, Facia and Roof - Woodland Grey Window Frames - Merino Ensuite Cupboard - Velveteen Ensuite Bench - Oyster Linea Bathroom/Laundry Cupboard - Fossil Bathroom/Laundry Bench - Licorice Linea Kitchen Cupboards - Rock Salt Kitchen Bench - Can't remember the name... It's much darker than originally expected. We're using the floor tiles in the ensuite to go up the walls, and having a nice feature strip through the shower. (included) The main bathroom has more white in it... We've put an additional feature stripe in the bath tiles as well. The tiles are really quite dark as well compared to what we were looking at. We're going to have to spend a little more on lighting I think so that we can lighten things up. Re: Colour Selection - Light/Dark? 12Dec 21, 2007 12:24 pm is your feature strip the stone one?? We have a strip that has two square stones across ways and they look like river stones with browns and whites through out them - they came up beautifully with the white grout and white shower tiles.
It's good that you chose those bricks - at least you can see how they come up on an actual house and the mortar colour really makes it. What facade did you pick? I didn't really want to post pics until its all done but here are some just coz some of your colours are the same as ours. Thats licorice linea in the ensuite photo. http://peedleville.blogspot.com/ Just build it the way I want and everything will be okay.
