Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 161Jun 28, 2011 8:28 pm looks amazing ness'n'troy, and wow the front is painted now. Did your builder do the storm water for you? Was that part of the cost or an extra charge? Wow McLaren did you go to Syd just for the home one get together? Would be great if there was one held in each capital city. Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 162Jun 28, 2011 8:36 pm Looking good! I really like the white render, it goes well with the charcoal pavers & it will look even better when the landscaping is done Building our custom design "Dream Home" Follow my Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46820 Contract Signed - 28/04/11 Siteworks Commenced - 20/06/11 Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 163Jun 29, 2011 8:45 am yeh we were lazy and got the builder to do the stormwater. It cost extra but it was worth not having to do all that digging homeone is the best. I think my DH and mum are sick of me talking about it though like 'oh yeh i know someone doing that', or 'suchandsuch is doing this and it would look better and love the idea' bahahahaha they would be big get togethers if they had them in every state! Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 164Jun 29, 2011 8:55 am Drayto Wow McLaren did you go to Syd just for the home one get together? Would be great if there was one held in each capital city. Yep - it was great. It was like meeting up with old friends. The funniest part was working out who was who and using our real names instead of our H1 names. I agree H1 is the best - you learn so much and can help others as well during what can be a very stressful time. Hi Ness - how much was the stormwater if you don't mind saying? For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 165Jun 29, 2011 9:00 am It was $1700. Dad just got a quote for his from a contractor and he quoted him $1500. (still better than digging trenches!):):) Its funny how we all talk to all these people and have no idea what their real names are lol Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 166Jun 29, 2011 9:07 am Yes it is strange - I'm Annette .... we were quoted $1800 so that doesn't sound too bad. Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 167Jun 29, 2011 9:10 am lol Hi Annette Im Vanessa obviously haha I finally went through a dechellis show home on MondayOMG I can see why so many people are building with them! They are stunning!! Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 168Jun 29, 2011 9:15 am I'll never forget when we first walked into the Dechellis display home - I almost turned around and walked out thinking we can't afford this but then I looked at the brochure and was pleasantly surprised. When compared to other "cheaper" builders once you add on all the extras it wasn't anymore expensive. We are loving ours .... Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 172Jul 01, 2011 11:28 pm Everything is coming together suberbly 'Vanessa' and i am so lovin' your red door. that is a great price for storm water - can you guys PM me the details or your plumber? I know a girl...... no seriously i know a girl who had quotes of between $3000 and $7,000, but for $1500 i too wouldnt bother with the heartache myself. Oh, and my name is Karen. i bet it was weird meeting people who you talk to on a daily basis online but dont really know. I always seem to conjure up in my mind what i think people will look like - of course i am completely wrong everytime The girl i talked about above, well her an myself email each other quite regularly - we have never met. She has just finished building with Format - they forwarded her email address to me with some info i had asked them about - so i decided to email her and ask some questions. We have been emailing ever since. Funny thing is, she lives a few streets away - we have both driven past each others house, but just havent met yet - funny i guess! Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 173Jul 03, 2011 11:07 am Vanessa, the house (and driveway) are looking fabulous! It's a great idea to get the drive and stormwater done before moving in. We moved in the middle of winter last time and it would have been very muddy if we didn't have a drive in. And the house before that, we did the stormwater ourselves (having a tighter budget back then ) trouble was it was in December when the clay was rock solid; hubby's back has not been the same since! I'm Deb BTW. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 174Jul 03, 2011 5:21 pm Oh, Ness, i meant to ask what your floor coverings are? K Re: Our Dream Home at Freeling 175Jul 04, 2011 11:46 am Thanks Karen & Deb I have no idea who did the stormwater. The builder did it all themselves. Deb digging those trenches is something I would NEVER want to do lol your poor DH! Karen the floor are just the click laminate. Prob the cheapest you can get but I was happy to have floors done and if they arent any good I can replace them somewhere down the track They look nice I think. With the alfresco on the back and the pergola going up out there too I wanted a light colour scheme because I cant see there being much light coming through. We're contesting it with the builder as it just sounds extreme.. Our allowance was $3200 so the 8k variation is a bit much.. Loving the house!! Whats to do next?? Ness, your house really is looking great. i luv those light shades, very tasteful. Did the builder lay your floor coverings? It really is coming together now - just those final touches to go, sooooooooooooooo excited for you We have decided to lay the Ikea boards to start with. With our footings and site prep being so expensive, we have had to reduce some of our later expenses and well DH and i can lay them with the help of a friend who has laid a lot of floating floors.
