Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ash + Ryan - Our house! 41Jul 09, 2011 9:46 pm Ok, im no expert but how far below the road storm water level are you. If its a couple of hundred mills this may work. If all your roof storm water was directed into rain water tanks and the outlets are 1600mm above the ground, surely the overflow when plumbed to the road storm water would provide positive pressure. I dont know but its just a thought. Re: Ash + Ryan - Our house! 42Jul 11, 2011 9:04 am We asked the stormwater guys thats but as we have ground grates and few others things we arent able to do that.. But we were told we may be able to do a sealed system given we have decking out the back and lawn, the ground water wouldn't be issue.. Im still very new to all this but im learning very quickly.. Thanks I have two quotes so far - one is $5200 and one is $8200.. Both far better than WCH at this point in time! Now to find some good concreters.. We have been speaking with our Engineering people and are having our soil report reviewed as 2 out of the 3 bores actually came back as medium – in line with the block just near us. They are going to have a look at previous reports for the area and possible reclassify (may require additional site review/bores but more of a confirmation than anything else). This should somewhat reduce the cost of our footings, as well as eliminate the need for the sump pump as M class can absorb enough with a soakage well. We have also been advised that should we discuss with our neighbour regarding a tree in their backyard which if removed will additionally reduce the cost of our footings.. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Building in Adelaide, SA Slab poured 08/09/2011 Handover 18/01/2012! Re: Ash + Ryan - Our house! 45Jul 13, 2011 1:44 pm Well we arent going to get a soil reclassification and IF we can prove a soakage pit will work we will need 2 giant ones costing nearly the same as the sump pump.. We are still going to work on having the tree removed to downgrade our footings and will now have to do our stormwater, concreting and rainwater tank after handover.. not the end of the work but a little annoying have to secure quotes now so it can be included in the loan approval. But we at least know everything we are getting into now and have a plan.. Still on track for slab next month though which is keeping the smile going..
