Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 26, 2011 11:39 pm Hi everyone! We are in the south east suburbs of melbourne and have built in a lovely estate, unfortunately to my suprise a MASSIVE double storey is unfairly being constructed behind us with a huge open balcony at the back, massive windows, not to mention their block is easily 5 m higher up than ours to even start with.... no idea how on earth it was passed but somehow it has been! Anyway to cut to the chase we were hoping to put up some bamboo screening higher then our existing fenceline. Was wondering if anyone new of good bamboo fence/screening suppliers that have 2400mm x 2400mm bamboo, in the 'darker' colour. That way we can block as much of the house as possible. Any other ideas to hide this house are welcome!! With thanks in advance =) Re: Bamboo Fencing/Screening... 2Feb 27, 2011 5:31 pm Have you been to the council or developer about it? Aren't they supposed to take into account your privacy when approving a double story? You may be able to force the neighbour to address the 'screening' issue? Re: Bamboo Fencing/Screening... 3Feb 27, 2011 6:14 pm If I recall correctly, if the distance between the back fence and your property is over 9 meters, they don't have to consider privacy issues. (It was either back fence to your property, or your property to their property - not too sure). Re: Bamboo Fencing/Screening... 4Feb 27, 2011 9:46 pm We bought some from this supplier http://bamboogrove.weebly.com/varieties ... ble-1.html I would only get the clumping bamboo though (not the running bamboo). The dark weaver sounds like a good choice for what you're after. We bought the alphonse karr about 4 months ago and they are going really well. I hope this helps. They have clearly snuck around these rights but they are so high up it looks like a 3 story house from our backyard. I think we are not going to win this one. Planning to do the fence and an extra pergola. Its just frustrating that we have to spend more money just because of them, in order to not lose any money on our house. Lucky for them they have nice views into 3 peoples back-yard... but I'll be blocking mine! Hi All, I am just about finish up my knockdown build (Sydney, NSW) and needs to do fencing replaced on one of the sides. That side neighbor is a troublemaker (complaining… 0 1990 Need to remove glass panel out of concrete without wrecking the glass to get the spa room in, any recommendations on how to do that.
