Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 23, 2011 12:55 pm Hi guys - what's the current rate (cash) for supply and install of downlights. Nothing fancy - just chrome plated (some swivel) with hallogen globes e.g. 12V 50W or 35W IRC We had a sparkie on Mon afternoon at the house who was recommended by a friend and he just rang my DH with a quote which is scary - asked the guy to forward a breakdown of the quote via email so I know what's the cost... but wouldn't mind finding out from anybody on this forum? As well any recommendations of good sparkie in Perth area? thanks B Preliminary agreement 23/11 Contract 22/03 Prestart 06/04 - finalised on 30/04 Unconditional approval 10/05 Demolition 05/07 Slab 26/08 Brickwork 13/09-06/10 Roof frame started 07/10 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32292 Downlights supply and install cost - Perth Area 2Feb 23, 2011 1:03 pm With wiring and switches etc. Expect 40 to 70 a pop. The figure depends on total number you order Re: Downlights supply and install cost - Perth Area 3Feb 23, 2011 1:09 pm You cant have my sparkie - Im keeping him all too myself. $100 ceiling fan $45 per light Price varied on powerpoints pending where they were It was scary - I have spent over $2000 on instalation and additional light points and outlets ( this does not include the 34 lights points and 32 power points the builder did or purchasing the light fixtures and globes from Vougue) Luck Timeline Aug 08-Land Mar 09-Demo/Titles Sept 10-Handover No1 Sept 11-Handover No2 April 12-Sold No2 Aug 14-Land/Demo Jan 15-Slabs viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25736 Re: Downlights supply and install cost - Perth Area 4Feb 23, 2011 1:39 pm All the wiring is done as I have junction boxes in the ceilings. I might have two or three of the switches to change but it's just a matter of replacing the ones installed by the builder as I allowed for conduits knowing that I might want additional buttons (controls) on the switch. Is the $45 per light just to install your lights you purchased? Is the $45 per light just to install your lights you purchased? Yep - I bought the lights first( amix of pendants , oysters , and hanging stuff and 240 volt downlights for a total cost of approx $3000 from vouge lighting from memory ( we want back to get some others plus a fan from bunnings and some LED downlights and some exterior lights so all up $4K - once again excluding installation ) Electrician removes the crappy chinese hat ( although supprisingly we just had bayonet points in the ceilings and the decking on the underside of the alfresco ) and wires the new light and hangs or attaches to ceiling or wall. The circuitry is all there by builder, although I had to have a few things changed like two way switches and those IXL tastics were a PITA, getting builder to install IXL Tastics on this next place as was very difficult after handover. I think I had four lights that were DIY where you buy a light fitting that utilizes the existing bayonet piont ( in the storage room and the WIR and WIL and WIP ) I remember he did heaps the first day . He was there with an offsider for 8 hours on a Sunday just installing lights and a couple fans ( this cost me $1100 - again that was labour only ) He did supply some globes , heaps of wiring for the modifications I wanted, weatherproof outlets and even a five way switch tho. People keep telling me lately that I am full of good cheer when I deliver bad news. But having enough trouble getting him to get time to do ours as he works for someone during the week. I went to light shop and was only pointed out the $14 downlights so have no idea about all the different types. Let me guess you want something like 50 downlights? Re: Downlights supply and install cost - Perth Area 8Feb 23, 2011 2:20 pm OK - I'll have to wait for him to forward the breakdown quote but I'm guessing he's charging us approx $100 per downlight for supply and install - I think it is high given that they buy their stuff in bulk / trade price.
