Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 21, 2011 3:25 pm Hi Guys, Anyone built a single storey house with Jandson recently? Their prices seem really competitive vs other builders. So naturally i am wondering if its really you get what you pay for sort of thing... Anyone from here work for them or is a rep? Cheers, Building with Jandson Homes - Eclipse 18. http://adgnetworks.blogspot.com/ Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 2Feb 21, 2011 7:37 pm We are building a nova II 3 bedroom in ropes crossing. We went with them over edan brae(though edan brae do built noticably faster) due to slightly better value for money and the fact they seem to choose practibility over flashy inclusions. Just had our first independent inspection done( roofing had just been finished) and came back all good. From speaking to a few other people who have built with them/purchased existing house and land packages and also checking out all of their display homes and also other jandson`s that have come up for sale, they all seem fine and the owners don`t have anything bad to say about the build quality. Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 3Feb 21, 2011 8:52 pm That sounds great. Can you ask for references? How long will your build take approx? Im looking at the Eclipse 18 so probably take a bit longer to build. Cheers! Building with Jandson Homes - Eclipse 18. http://adgnetworks.blogspot.com/ Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 4Feb 24, 2011 6:27 pm I think you can, other builders seem to give out details of homes underway or completed for you to drive past. I had a look through a 4 bed nova the week before it was handed over as i wanted to see inside a completed nova and they had recently sold their display nova in ropes crossing. The rest of the nova`s iv`e looked in have been for sale/simply just door knocking after finding them in ropes crossing and one under construction. Jandson might have some eclipse`s underway that you can check out if you ask them. Mine is a 20wk build (PCI would be mid may) but they told me 26th of april but thats a pub hol so i`m now pushing to have handover before easter hols which would make it a 16wk build. A Eclipse 18 would be 25-26 weeks? It`s a decent sized house! Feel free to PM me if need/want to. Where are you building at? Do you have any feedback or experiences you would like to share? Me and my partner have secured a block of land and have gone through the tender process with Jandson and are looking to build the Esprit IV with some of our own personal touches to make it look modern. Progress Blog: http://buildingwithjandson.blogspot.com/ Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 7Jun 06, 2011 3:43 pm Well not too bad in the whole scheme of things. We did finish 1 month ahead of schedule which was good. You don`t do a proper PCI like other builders you will find on here, you do a Introduction to your house with the SS(you then make your final payment and organise to collect keys), during the intro anything the SS is aware of (well ours did) he will point out to you and explain what they are going to do to sort it out for you. However you must really take your time and slow down the SS (we felt a bit rushed through, but we also were in a rush to get the keys the same day) and really check out everything and anything both externally and internally and show your SS and will note it down on a form for you to sign,it`s a legal doc that requires them to fix up whats on the list and they are quick to sort it out for you. After you have signed it,they really will try to ignore or wear you down so you give up on anything else (non major) you might notice once you start moving in(chipped tile, sratched bench top) Anything big like sewer, gas, water, power they are onto it promptly. You also get a form to note down any issues to be looked at during your 6 mth insp and they will fix it up(we have only been in for 6 wks) I suggest you keep a paper trail to make life easier. If the SS tells you something, send your CSO a email listing what the SS told you would be done, otherwise you don`t have much of a leg to stand on when needed and it comes down to good will on their behalf. Some things that are told to you by the SS sometimes don`t happen (forgotten/overlooked etc) as the SS`s seem to be busy with a lot of other houses to look after too. One thing we did notice is after you have signed up and payed your full deposit and signed up(your locked in) the mood changes as they now have you and you become more of a job than a sale, but thats a common situation in this forum these days! Hope this helps Cheers Phill Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 8Jun 06, 2011 10:01 pm Thanks Phill Definitely some good advice in their. I do expect things to change once you sign the dotted line but as you said it seems like a common occurrence and can only assume if we keep pushing for updates and keeping in contact regularly will keep them on their toes. Where abouts are you building at? I would just take my time at the PCI,i missed a few little things because we were in a rush to get the keys before the day before easter weekend and get the moving process underway after living in 2 3x3m bedrooms with the outlaws for 9 months. Oh we used to regulary check the site/process (as you do) and would notify jandson about any issues and they would be onto it promptly and were never told we shouldn`t have been on site(only the SS did at frame inspection as part of a OH&S lecture that he would tell everyone) so don`t be afraid to crack open the fence and snoop around. Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 10Jun 07, 2011 8:26 pm We are building out at the ponds Yeah i will definitely go over everything with a fine tooth comb. We can survive living were we are for as long as needed so i can understand your reasons to get into your new home! Yeah i always planned on making regular inspections make sure everything is running smoothly - a simple fence would of never stopped me So overall where you happy with the build quality with Jandson? Their display home at Homeworld look reasonable considering the age and amount of traffic that would of went through there. Building with Jandson Homes - Esprit IV Custom. Progress Blog: http://buildingwithjandson.blogspot.com/ Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 11Jul 05, 2011 10:10 pm Hi all, Just thought I'd put my two cents worth in. We are building a Maxima 4 at Ropes Crossing and have PC date of tomorrow (6/7/11) We are still about 3 weeks from completion so liquidated damages kick in 7/7/11. To put things in perspective, they are an administrative nightmare. From the moment we signed up I have constantly had to chase them about errors in the build i.e. HSW in the wrong position, plumbing done incorrectly etc. This all came down to all the contractors involved, from the slab pourers to the plumbers and electricians not having the up to date plans. Our SS is rude an obnoxious but fortunately we have a sympathetic CSO at head office who does act on my frustrations. Don't get me wrong, the build quality is fine, it's just everything else from the moment you sign on the line that is a nightmare. As someone above said keep a detailed paper trail on everything and check everything again and again. Also don't be afraid to speak to someone higher if you don't think your getting the answer you deserve. Thanks for the advice from the poster above regarding hand over inspection. I figured they might want to rush the whole procedure. Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 12Jul 05, 2011 10:33 pm That's unfortunate to hear. So far things have been good for me as i leave messages and emails and they respond fairly promptly. Got my final drawings with nathers and basix all received. Then again we havent started building - looking to start in Sept. It's great to hear the build quality is fine but i hope to get a decent SS. My plans have already been approved by council, but I still haven't had the colour consultation appointment. My contact isn't responding to my messages, and now their website is down! I'm getting worried! Does anyone have their phone number for The Ponds display homes? Thanks Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 14Aug 23, 2011 9:24 am Hi Our plans are going through Basix at the moment after being delayed by all their drafts men coming down with the flu... I know that they recently moved to the Ponds from Homeworld display centre and have noticed that they are pretty busy over there. Also i believe that they are moving their head office as well so it may be coincidental that someone has mistakenly broken their website... I will PM you the contact number i have for the ponds. My google cache links have disappeared with their new layout. I must figure out how to get them back. I finally have my colour appointment booked. Any suggestions how to get through that with minimal pain? Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 18Aug 25, 2011 6:30 am The best way to be prepared for your colour appointment is to visit te suppliers so you have see in full scale the bricks, roof tiles etc. They can look a lot different in real life than in the pics. Make sure you know whats in your range before you go Re: Jandson Homes - Anyone build with them recently? 19Aug 30, 2011 5:26 pm Anyone notice that they changed their web address to www.jandson.com.au? I've been wondering when their website would be available again. Thanks kdgirl! There are so many different suppliers to visit. I like the ones where you can order their samples online (eg, laminate), though I know it's not the same as seeing it in full size. wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13777 Hi everyone. I am a single mother with little daughter, living in a small tourist town in WA Australia. I am thinking to install security screens to all the doors and… 0 22205 Iām loving the potential versatility and practicality of a bench seat in a shower. Anyone had one of these done recently? Not sure if they are straight forward and easy… 0 746 |
