I am almost ready to sign a House & Land (fixed price) contract in the Renaissance Rise estate for a new 3 br house. I am skeptical as to whether the builders can wriggle their way around the contract and invent new ways to charge more on top of the fixed price.
- I am aware that there will be connection charges (water, sewerage, gas, electricity,etc), all up ~$1000
- If the soil is difficult, do most people end up paying extra for the foundation/slab in one way or another? What actually happens in people's experience?
- Are most builders 'difficult' and do they tack on lots of little charges here and there?
Do you have any stories to share? I guess what I am asking is, what (if anything) did you get charged extra for?
