Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 16, 2011 10:44 am Hi, I need peoples opinions. I'm going through the "did i make the right choice" phase. Partner and I are first time builders, we chose Blackwood bricks, with off white mortar. It looked great in the showroom, we prefer dark bricks so we picked it. Called Austral bricks few days ago, and got 2 addresses off them to have a look at. But they were VERY VERY different, almost to the point where I think someones made a mistake!!! Anyway, I need HELP? Anyone used Blackwood, or know someone who has. If so, how does it look, what colour combo was used?? My - Garage, Windows, Downpipe, Fascia and gutters are all Woodland grey. Render is Timeless grey. Will this be too dark??? HELP PLEASE??? Re: Austral blackwood bricks anyone??? 2Sep 11, 2011 9:53 pm bgirl Hi, I need peoples opinions. Hi We are building with Austral Expressions Blackstone. Is this what you mean? Our bricks are supposed to be laid this week. So I could tell you in a few weeks how they look. We are using black/grey tones mainly. For the garage, front doors, fascia we are using Dune to break things up. We are also investing in white plantation shutters for the facade windows so it breaks up the brick. Take a look at my blog to check out our colour selections. I would perhaps consider using Dune or a lighter colour somewhere - maybe rendering? But then its hard to say without seeing the facade. Have you got a drawings of your facade (elevations?) you could post? mmm, not sure if I was really much help EDIT: I think there is Blackwood in other States. I am in NSW but I did a quick search for Austral Blackwood and this blog came up http://oursavannah28.blogspot.com/search/label/Bricks are these the bricks?
