Hi all, thought I'd start a thread on our building experience so far.
We had a site start & scrape 2 weeks ago...

But one week ago, with the flooding in Melbourne, this happened...

It was more extensive than this (the whole site scrape area had turned into a swimming pool - literally. This picture was taken ~3 days on, when there was a bit of sunshine and the remaining water pooled into the lower garage & porch area). Since then I have used a bucket and a lot of manual labour to get empty the water into the gutter. In hindsight, renting a pump would've been the wiser move.
Also seen in the picture is the uncompleted meter box & a screw pile - the screw piles are 75% done; they can't get into the flooded areas just yet.
Nothing has happened since the screw piles have gone in, either.
Is there anyone with experience that can inform us if there's any problems down the track with our slab - with the amount of water and all?
On a different note; the council is relaying the road, and the guys doing the profiling decided to dump their leftovers in our building site...

Needless to say after a few complaints it was removed very promptly...
