Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 10, 2011 10:38 pm Hi,
Just curious to see what type of things you came across that your builder forgot to install/put in despite them being on the final floor plan? I've only had hand over for a week and already have found a few things! (but only little) I have form to fill in and send back within 3 months so they can review and come back and fix/do it right! But what should go on there and what shouldn't? What is being too 'picky'. Oh they are only small things, but items that are clearly on the plans - a few power points missing, a light switch in the wrong position, missed tap. Some power points aren't exactly were we asked for them on the plan. Im not sure what equals me being to picky if i put it on the maintenance report to fix. Re: What items did the builders forget to put in ?! 5Feb 11, 2011 8:02 am 4 outside light bulbs, external rangehood vent, washing machine waste connector (nowhere to plug the hose into in the laundry), floor waste in ensuite and bathroom, power point for rainwater tank pump, several door stops, shelving in 3 WIRs (entire shelf unit not installed), 1 steplight, 1 power point (steplight and power point were shown incorrectly on plan). And that's just the things that were missing.. other problems we found were gutters not falling toward the downpipe, downlights out of alignment with what they are supposed to be lighting, balcony door warped, window flyscreens not secured in the middle (allowing them to warp and let insects in), laundry door locks don't accept key. And of course there's the things that were there and shouldn't have been .. an old door dumped on the neighbour's building site, some old temporary fencing left in the backyard, and a huge heap of brick and tile rubble buried in the backyard. We only found it after we started digging. Not all of these were "forgotten", but it's now 6 weeks after handover and they STILL haven't been fixed.
