Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 10, 2011 11:36 am Hey everyone, I'm considering building the Montana 29 with Carlisle. The AS DISPLAY promotion thats going on at the moment is very tempting!! The 'what you see is what you get' idea really appeals to me, especially knowing timber look flooring and carpets are included at no extra cost!!! But same time I'm worried will prices go up at Colour appointments?? Whats the materials like at the Spectra selection centre? Are standards pretty good, or will i need to upgrade alot of items? HELP?? Has anyone signed up with this promotion? Any help would be appreciated! Hi bgirl, we're currently building with Carlisle (well about to start at least) and can't speak highly enough of Spectra. The standard items are great, and the choice of colours within the standard items are much better than another builder we got to contract stage with. For example, you get 3 coats of ANY Dulux paint you want. Category 1 Caesarstone has a range of about 15 colours, whereas other builders only have 5 or 6. We're building in the Affinity range, so I'm not sure what the crossover between ranges is, but we also got floating floors as standard, colorbond gutters & fascia, panel-lift garage door. The base price might be a little more than some of the other major builders, but the inclusions definitely make up for it! The staff at Spectra are really sensational too. You're booked in for a colour browse appointment on a weekend, and a consultant takes you through every aspect of the showroom. Plus the staff wander the room offering advice. I just let out a small sigh of relief!!! You see I've already put down a deposit with another builder, then stumbled across Carlisle. The display homes are gorgeous!!! We really like the Montana. Just wasn't sure what the Spectra selections place would be like. So good to know. I REALLY want a display-like house, just done up with standard items Oh, are there plenty of mosaics, feature tiling to choose from in the standards??.. And most importantly are they pretty? Lol By the way, the affinity range homes are beautiful. So congrats!!! I'll make sure to follow your blog!! Hi bgirl, Currently building Carlisle, T Range Savannah 28 - future estate neighbour of Reinsey and blogland buddies. Standard Colours/Selections across Affinity and T Range are same quality both with excellent choices and finishes. Any upgrades, a personal choice without outrageous prices. Carlisle use Beaumont Tiles - spend time at one of their showrooms as Spectra obvioulsy can't carry the whole range. Also, do your homework with Brick, Roof, Window colours etc...more prepared, less daunting. Spectra ladies are fantastic, ask lots of questions and enjoy. Our build has been a dream, great SS; on top of any issues we raise and extremely approachable. Our blog as below.
