We put so much time and effort into building and it can all be knocked down in a flash. Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 43Mar 09, 2011 2:51 pm Hey Theresa, thought I would have a peak at ur thread, Looks like we'll be around the same build stage as each other so it would be great to compare notes. You're house will be stunning (trust me I know!! LOL)!! Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 50Mar 18, 2011 2:03 pm Theresa – Hi, just stopping in to see your build. Your colours look great & seems it’ll all come together perfectly. Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 51Mar 18, 2011 2:07 pm Well, I'm starting to think I should've started a demolition thread rather than a build thread. I've hit another roadblock. The builder called yesterday to say that the surveyor had discovered an old stormwater pipe running from the back corner of the block to the road. It needs to be removed. We can't remove it ourselves as it's made of concrete and reinforced by steel and is buried about 40cm below the surface. We need to get the demolition people back to do it. We're now waiting on the builder to forward the surveyor's report onto us so we can forward the report onto the demolition people. I'm just wondering how long this is all going to take and how many $$$s we'll be up for.

Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 53Mar 18, 2011 2:31 pm Bugger about the find. Thats got to be a bit annoying.. or A LOT! I hope it does not take them much time or charge much money to have this removed. Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 54Mar 18, 2011 3:03 pm I hope you can get this issue fixed quickly and cheaply. That's quite an inspection point you have there. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 55Mar 23, 2011 3:33 pm Looks like we have an easement down the left side of our block which we didn't know about. It isn't drawn on the land title drawing of our block. After talking to the council about the stormwater pipe that the surveyor had found, the council said that we should've had an easement there. They have admitted that it's their fault that it wasn't included on the land title drawing. Fairmont have put our build on hold as they want the whole pipe removed. Council are preparing a report to present at next month's council meeting to discuss what they are going to do about it. They need to seek approval to get the funds granted to remove the pipe and also they need to work out where they will divert the stormwater if they remove the pipe from our block. We've made them aware that we are paying rent as we've demolished our house and that our builder has put our build on hold. I hope this spurs some action quick smart as we touched on the subject of compensation for rent being paid while this blunder gets sorted. On the bright side, I guess we wouldn't have got council approval in the first place to build our house if they knew about the easement so it's kind of good that they didn't know. Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 56Mar 23, 2011 3:40 pm Oh bugger - hope Council don't hold you up for too long How could they have missed that it's huge?? Keep the pressure on them with the compensation claim!! Good luck For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Keep the pressure on them with the compensation claim!! Good luck Yeah, it's pretty amazing that it got completely missed. I could never have imagined that we'd be held up by something like this. Re: Building the Monaco with Fairmont Homes 58Apr 06, 2011 2:00 pm Got some good news! The council has removed the stormwater pipe from our block. The footings contractor will start digging the trenches on Monday. In the end, we were only delayed by a week. I can't believe it's finally happening!!!
