Re: Monaco after handover ~ Fairmont Homes 462Sep 26, 2012 6:48 am WO, our air conditioner isn’t even an inverter model as the contractor advised us that we didn’t need it. If we’d gone for the inverter, it would’ve been even less of a price difference as an inverter was quoted as $11.6K for a 10kW system. It made it very tempting to get more value for money with a bigger system and not knowing anything about sizing up an air conditioner myself, I probably would've gone bigger. We've got a friend who is a refrigeration mechanic who also recommended a smaller 10-12kW system with no inverter technology so that's what swayed us in the end. No news on the curtains. I called Kym on Friday and asked for an update and as usual, he couldn’t provide me with one at the time and said he would call me back with one but never did. It’s been 10 weeks since I paid my deposit Re: Monaco after handover ~ Fairmont Homes 463Sep 26, 2012 9:57 am if he didnt call back, id keep calling, i ended up changing the settings on my phone to block my number, incase he knew it was me and didnt answer on purpose Re: Monaco after handover ~ Fairmont Homes 464Sep 28, 2012 8:50 pm Good thinking WO. I spoke to the supplier of the fabric I chose today and they confirmed that they haven't been supplying fabric to them for a while. IMO, it's looking unlikely that I'll get my curtains so I called the administrator today to see if they could confirm anything. They were meant to call back but never did. Why can't anyone ring when they say they will?? I hate having to follow people up all the time. Mclaren Wow what a difference the plants and that lovely yucca make That's a great design in your backyard - looks so good!! Hopefully we will be in the same situation soon - had 10 tonne of soil delivered yesterday so DH is working his way through it and then the exciting stuff can start. Below is the plan of what they did. The yellow highlighted areas are the rooms we find hot in summer so our air-conditioner is zoned and will be able to cool those rooms at one time – not the whole house. It’s a central distribution design, which we’ve been told is more efficient. We upgraded the ductwork to also help with efficiency. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We opted for the standard control. There’s no constant zone so we need to have one switch always on so we don’t break it! We figure we're not always going to be in one particular room of the house. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We’ve got two return air vents - in the rear and front halls... The front fence is partly up. I got a number of quotes and the prices came back between $16K-$19K for a concrete fence with tubular inserts, automatic sliding gate and intercom. We'd already supplied electricity to the fence and installed one half of the intercom inside the house when we built. It sounded a bit much so we've decided to only get the concrete part done for now. That cost about $6K. We'll look at finishing it off down the track after we paint it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also got a concrete path and concrete edging done for the garden beds in the same aggregate concrete as we'd previously done for the driveway. You must be so happy with it I'm just wondering how you went about getting your downlights installed after handover? Is there anything that needs to be done during the build? And do you know how much Fairmont charges for LED? Thanks! Re: Monaco after handover ~ Fairmont Homes ~ Front yard 471Oct 30, 2012 2:29 pm The front landscaping has been finished. The next challenge is keeping the new lawn alive in this hot weather. It's getting dry so we're having to water it multiple times a day until the roots reach the underground irrigation. We put Photinia Red Robin (it's behind the grasses) down each side of the yard to hide the fence like we did in the backyard... The LEDs themselves cost $115 each for the Brightgreen D900 LEDs but I'm sure they would've dropped in price. They started off being $140 each when we first looked at them. I looked at the external colours in your thread and I think they would look fine together. Also, consider your landscaping. It’ll add some more colour to the front of your house as well.
