Yes, it will be very well appreciated dct! The pergola is a welcome addition as the back of the house is the western side and the afternoon sun comes in a fair way through the double sliding doors.

This is the progress from day 4. The sheets were put on the flat roof verandah and the gable infills were installed…

Now it just needs downpipes, which they forgot to order

The pergola people thought we would get our landscaper to install the downpipes. The landscaper was only ever going to connect the downpipes to the stormwater.

Also, just waiting on the downlights and fan to be installed.

you mentioned another company......is that kym daly interiors? its listed at woodcroft, just tried and not surprised, no answer. thats probably going under too.
he is probably just saying stuff to keep people calm, who are infront of his face. if he told us no, youve lost everything, he'd probably get smashed, lol.
im so frustrated, if i dont hear from him by tomorrow arvo, im temped to go back. if they are made as he says, give me the material and ill hang it myself, i dont care if they dont get installed by them.

i thought i'd just try the unley store again, and kym answered!
as he was explaining the process, the story of my order kept changing. i dont trust a word he says. he says my curtains will be finished by the end of the week.
he mentioned something about mr blinds (at parafield i think), the business has nothing to do with it, im not sure if they are just borrowing their workshop?
he also gave me the details of the administrator, its heard phillips, 8212 3433
kym is dealing with curtains and blinds and peter is dealing with shutters.
he said im less likely to get the shutters.
my order was 10 weeks ago, so it makes me think theyve known for more than that, if they ordered them, they would be here by now, makes me think they never even ordered them.

Yes, Kym has Kym Daly Interiors and also Prestige Shutters and Blinds.
I just find it funny that when Kym or Peter update me (or don't really update me) they seem to know the answer off the top of their heads. They don't look anything up to see where my order is actually at. I don't believe they remember the progress of every single order. That's why I doubt any of it is true.

i just looked up mr blinds, its para hills, not parafield (i knew it started with a p) although only across the road, the postcode is 5096.
i did an abn search, and surprise, kym dalys name attached! he said they had nothing to do with it!! but the abn is registered at 5162. so dont know where the 5107 from ocba came from.
wonder if all associated companies will close

I can’t wait mclaren! Will be so nice when I've got an outdoor setting and can just put my feet up and not have to do anything more to the house!

The downpipes were put on the pergola. I hate when they can’t keep to what’s been quoted

The quote says ‘…gloss finish 65mm x 65mm downpipes…’. The pergola people stuck round PVC downpipes that are unpainted. They insist it’s what they do these days as the square metal pipes rust (in 10 to 15 years…that’s ages away!) and you would get leaking from a square downpipe as there’s apparently a seam at the back that would do this. I’ve asked for money off the price, which they said they will do as obviously PVC is going to be cheaper than metal downpipes.

The landscaper has started. We've got Top Cat Landscaping back to finish off what they'd previously started. They’ve put a raised wall at the rear fence (using Boral Litewall) and started paving under the pergola (with 300x300 Boral Promenade).

Before landscaping, we had a landscape designer come around. That cost $60 for an hour consultation. Didn’t really help. We already had quite a good idea of what we wanted but just wanted some suggestions and advice on plants. To get an actual design drawn up, it was going to cost $1700

That’s for the front and back yards.

The landscapers have almost finished paving. Below is the right rear of the block where we'll plant a feature tree in the raised garden bed in the corner.

Today we've got the lawn being installed. About 65sqm of Kikuyu. I can't wait! Neither can my 3 year old. Seems he's forgotten what real lawn looks like. Since moving in he gets so excited when he sees a weed and says "look mummy, we have grass!!!". Will be so nice to have the real thing for him to play on.

Last night hailed here. We had a couple of leaks under the pergola. The most worrying being water beading under the fascias of the house. I hope it's nothing serious. Doesn't appear like the new box gutter handled it all that well. I haven't completely paid for the pergola yet as the electrician still hasn't come and installed the fan and downlights. I'm glad I haven't. I definitely want this fixed first

Landscapers still need to come back and finish off planting in the courtyard. We're getting a front fence installed, which hopefully will be started this week if the weather is nice. When the fence is done, the landscapers will be back to landscape the front yard.

Love all your edging plants, what do you have growing around the tank?
The plant in the raised bed - did you buy it already that size or are you transplanting it from your previous place? It looks very grand there

dct, it's a Photinia Robin Red hedging plant around the tank. It's also the same down the other side of the yard. We wanted something to screen off the tank and fence. It grows to 3m so it should do the job.

We bought the Yucca that is in the raised bed that size. The landscaper got it for us for $250. We were originally thinking of a large Dragon Tree but they only had some that were half the size at the nursery for $600! :shock:

They're very slow growing so we really needed to pay even more than that to get a decent size like the Yucca.

wow!!! Theresa you should be doing garden consults yourself!! Love it- amazing transformation! We are clueless gardeners. We use terms like 'green bush, not too big' and 'something with a nice smelly flower'.... yes I think I will get help before I plant anything!!! :oops:

Thank you build again. I looked at lots of photos on landscape designer's and landscaper's web sites for inspiration.

So the footings for the front fence were done last week. They have to dry for a week before the concrete pillars and walls can be put on top. So no action outside this week.

Today I made a decision about our air conditioning. We chose a Daikin 10kW ducted reverse cycle system. I got 3 quotes and the other 2 were for a 14.1kW Daikin system. I haven’t chosen the smaller one because it was cheaper as it actually wasn’t. It’s costing $10.7K, which was in the middle pricewise. We went through last summer without air conditioning and I’ve come to the conclusion that the whole house would not need to be cooled at once as some rooms stayed noticeably cooler than others. So I was pleased that the contractor we chose took that into account when designing the system. I’m hoping that by choosing a system that is not oversized, it will be more energy efficient. The system will be installed in about 2-3 weeks.

That's a great design in your backyard - looks so good!! Hopefully we will be in the same situation soon - had 10 tonne of soil delivered yesterday so DH is working his way through it and then the exciting stuff can start.
