My mother-in-law is a hugeeee quilter and actually has released two books on quilting I'm only 26, but I love quilts, they are truely art Re: Bought a block in SA- now to find a builder! 83Apr 12, 2011 10:12 am I like making quilts and those you see are mine although the one in the hall behind the dining table was a friendship quilt so the blocks were made by a number of people (back in 1995 -97). You will have received a quilt or two I guess if MIL is a quilter - we are always making them for other people because there are only so many one can fit in their house! I am not sure that my new home will be as busy with things as this one. I like the modern look that is in the display homes but I will most likely still decorate with the quilts, just have less dolls, crockery (jugs found in second hand stores) and other bits. I can keep my tins because they can be hidden in the pantry. I also do stitcheries and folk art painting but there is not much you can see in these pics so I will put up a couple more. I do crafts for my own enjoyment/relaxation. I don't plan to make too many big quilts anymore because my shoulders and hands get a bit sore when quilting on the machine; if I make a bed quilt in future I will get it professionally quilted. And you are right - they are beautiful, warm art https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA- now to find a builder! 84Apr 12, 2011 11:03 am deleted photos https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA- now to find a builder! 85Apr 14, 2011 9:55 am message deleted - came up twice https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA- now to find a builder! 86Apr 14, 2011 9:58 am Sad when one has to post pics of current home cause there's not much to say about the new We have talked to someone from Adela1de Des1gner H0mes (we were in the display home); they are on our list of possible builders. We are tweaking our plans a bit more. The trouble is there are so many options. We have a couple of single storey plans and are also looking at putting a room up - until we decide what we like the most, we can't go any further and hubby is not all that interested in going on the computer after work to play 'house' I think we will be talking to a couple of builders soon though - I would really like to get started! I thought I would post a couple of pics of our block - will do that tonight. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA- now to find a builder! 87Apr 15, 2011 1:07 pm Here are some pics of our block taken at the end of last year. Looking from the top left corner of block which goes down to the fence by the trees, 18m wide. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Another view from the top of the block - this is the view we want to capture. We are considering a room up although if it is single storey it will be split level to bring the family/dine up higher and our bedroom area. If we go up, it will probably be our bedroom with a sitting area and a balcony, slightly separate so that we can take guests up. We are working on three main designs at the moment but they seem to change regularly Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 88Apr 17, 2011 10:42 am i remember lookiong at this block......great spot:) Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 89Apr 22, 2011 1:05 pm Thanks we think so too! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 90Apr 22, 2011 5:53 pm you have really been busy haven't you, You are very clever, I love doing cross-stitch and have done quite a few wall hangings, a few years ago I used to make tablecloths and runners, pillowcases and cushion covers and a friend and I used to sell them at the country markets. It was great fun and I loved doing it. It really is so satisfying to see the things that you know you have done, they mean so much more to you. At the moment I am doing a large wall hanging for the nursery for DD and it has teddy-bears on it. It really is gorgeous. Hopefully I will finish before he is born. Anyway keep up the good work. I loved the bucket with the cow on it and the suitcase with the teddy as well. I am a bit of a softie for teddies as I have rather a large collection of themhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a384/Chiisai2/blushing-emoticon-embarrassed.gif Contracts signed Dec 09 OK to Start Sep 17 Slab Oct 6 Frame Oct 25,26 Windows and Gutters Oct 28 Bricks Nov 2 -20 Roof Finished Nov 10 Insulation and Gyprock Finished Nov 30 Locked Out Dec 13 Cupboards Installed Dec 17 Tile prep work Dec 26 Painter started Dec 30 Stormwater Jan 17 Tiles Jan 10-19 PCI Feb 2 Handover Feb 9 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37120[size=85] Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 91Apr 22, 2011 7:53 pm Thanks for your comments Lucene I would love to see a photo of the teddy wall-hanging when you've finished. I love all the pretty things around me and yes, it is very satisfying to know that I have made many of them myself. However I am leaning towards less-is-more for the new house as the display homes are weaving their effect on me. Of course the house will be more modern anyway so will not suit the clutter that I have been used to. I want to keep quilts on the walls but will probably have a huge garage sale once we move into our new house and I work out what I no longer want. I figure I can still keep my tins because I can use them in the pantry, it is going to be hard to decide what not to keep https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 92Apr 24, 2011 1:51 pm mmm i know that block as well, great scope for a custom build , dream feel free to contact me without obligation i would love to play ! maybe post your design , i might have some ideas that might help i am always drawing up designs for people Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 93Apr 26, 2011 12:50 am Look what was on my block today Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 94Apr 28, 2011 11:05 pm New neighbours!!?? Cheers Janet Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 96May 15, 2011 12:10 pm hubby keeps changing the plan!!! He's on the puter at the moment going back to a double storey idea even though I thought we had decided it was too dear He says 'I'm not doing this 'til I'm 100% sure!' (frustrated wife) Like nomorebellybumps, our first priority is to sell the house as we will be using the money to start the build. I will pm a plan Janet when I upload it to PB. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 97May 15, 2011 6:52 pm even though selling is your first priority....its still good to be prepared. we were in the same situation, needing to sell to get the money to build. so we became a bit lazy in sorting out our floor plan, thinking theres no point rushing if we hadnt sold. it took us 8 months to get to our plan. if we didnt waste that much time, maybe we could have been started by now. depends on your situation - we are living with my parents atm....and im hanging for our place to be finished! Re: Bought a block in SA - block pics 98May 15, 2011 9:50 pm We purchased our place to knockdown in April 2010 and sold our existing house at auction in June 2010, settling in September 2010. We started on the plans in April 2010 and it has taken until now to finalise the plans, get council approval, finalise builder and contract etc. Now the siteworks are finally due to start this week. So don't hang off now, keep pushing it along. The number of people who have it sitting on their desk for a couple of weeks along the way soon adds up to quite a while when you add them all up ( ie architect/draftsman, council, engineer, builder etc ).
