Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 14, 2007 2:35 pm ....Anyone know any good ones?
We are at frame stage so wanted to get onto this now or early in the new year if possible. Cheers Nicole Re: Qld Inspectors... 2Dec 17, 2007 8:13 am Hi Nicole,
We are building in Brisbane as well and I have searched around for an inspector to have a look at our house. I contacted a couple that are listed on this site and they said that they don't inspect new homes that are being built, only homes purchased through a real estate. I also contacted handovers.com and the lady I spoke to there said they will only do inspections at handover time, not at any stages in between. She said something about the BSA changing the regulations and that builders should be given the whole building period to fix any defects before an inspector comes along. Sorry I can't be of much more help to you, if you do find an inspector I'd be interested to know where we can contact them! Re: Qld Inspectors... 4Jan 08, 2008 8:27 am Hi Nicole
I have found one place that does it. http://bcagroupqld.com.au/ Would love to know if anyone on the forum has used them! ![]() These are the stages they do: 1. Slab Stage: 2. Frame Stage: 3. Enclosed stage: 4. Fixing Stage: 5. Handover Stage: is having a slab inspection overkill? He (the inspector) was fantastic and I would recommend him to anyone thinking of getting an inspection. He knows the standards to a tee and we got back a comprehensive 17 page report with recommendations to the builder about what needed fixing and was not within Australian standards.
I would highly recommend it! Re: Qld Inspectors... 8Feb 07, 2008 5:06 pm Thanks Vegemite, I was a little bit unsure whether to use them as I didn't know what they were like. Do you know the name of the guy that did the inspection?

I cannot recommend him enough. Quite well priced as well. I think we paid about $500 for a near lockup stage inspection. Re: Qld Inspectors... 10Feb 08, 2008 4:29 pm Just went back and checked the name on our handover inspection report and yes we used Wayne Dyer from BCA Group. Similarly to last reply we were also quite happy with him.
He found quite a few things that we would have never found / known about on our own Re: Qld Inspectors... 11Feb 08, 2008 5:53 pm Just Started:
terrific, thanks for that. Will give them a ring when we get far enough. How long have you been in your house? We are coming up to the end of our defects liability, and so I have been thinking about using Wayne again to do another inspection.
I really should change my user name - not that I post many replies, I have been more of a "browser". I actually set up the user name many months ago in order to ask the same question you have asked, that is any recommendations for building inspectors. My question is should we employ a independent building inspector to come in and… 0 1224 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
