Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our build - back on track....render started 422Mar 25, 2012 6:09 pm SunshineT Hotondo have really done good by you and are building fast. Even faster than Zen. Didn't you and gogo start at the same time? T, Nina started early November, we started mid december, her slab was poured early December ours was poured just before Christmas, so she has been a month ahead of me most of the way Re: Our build - back on track....render started 423Mar 25, 2012 7:22 pm Thanks so much for those Jodge. Our guys have done ours now but thankfully they're similar thickness etc to yours - we're happy. You did a great job on your bagging by the way, very impressive. I know T, can't complain about H, been happy with progress. That was interesting, I just looked back at the timeline (noted it on page 1 as can't get my signature to take it, too many characters). Much longer between milestones than it felt at the time - but also know they have been doing other stuff in-between. H said we needed 4 weeks ideally to cure our slab before they could get the excavator down to the back of our site via it. Plus they didn't want to put frames up before the Christmas closure and potentially leave them sitting in 3 weeks of wet weather. All in all happy but surprised as thought we had started around same time as GoGo as well. All in all happy but surprised as thought we had started around same time as GoGo as well. That sounds very sensible. I think we only had 1-2 weeks before the excavator went on our slab to do the external drainage. Who knows if that is why, but we have found 2 hairline cracks in the slab. DH asked A about it, he just said it was normal. Or it could have been the intense heat we had for 5 days after slab pour. But H sound very sensible in how they have gone about your build. No idea how they do them - just render I think! Hope they don't fall off. I'd say they must be part of the building. . . therefore are covered for 7 years under the builder's warranty!!! Re: Our build - back on track....render started 429Mar 27, 2012 6:23 am Ryan 1977 They look great Nina, are you having them in a contrasting colour? Hey Ryan - thanks! They will be whote to match (and extend) the window frames. Hows your build going this week? Its quite quiet on here at the mo Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43846 Re: Our build - back on track....render started 430Mar 27, 2012 7:26 am Nina-they may have added a moulding to create that effect. Well, at least we are supposed to be getting them, won't know until they are delivered SunshineT's Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34585 Designs start: 4/12/09 DA: 5/7/11 Demo: 22/12/11 Slab: 24/2/12 Keys: 31/8/12 Re: Our build - back on track....render started 432Mar 27, 2012 11:32 am Hi T - it might have been cheaper for us to get semi-commercial rather than do this -not sure, but it was a late decision and the windows had been organised by that stage. Anything happening with you today? Not sure what is going on at our place. Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43846 Re: Our build - back on track....render started 433Mar 27, 2012 11:41 am yep, surprise surprise bricking! oh - and did I tell you I got in touch with Howard Ryan? I remember you saying to tried to contact him but didn't hear back from him. (I sent him an email via his website and he called me the same afternoon). We are going ahead with him for a frame inspection (done after bricking and roof, just prior to eaves). SunshineT's Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34585 Designs start: 4/12/09 DA: 5/7/11 Demo: 22/12/11 Slab: 24/2/12 Keys: 31/8/12 Re: Our build - back on track....render started 434Mar 27, 2012 7:13 pm Great news on the bricking T! Well done on tracking him down. We're not doing an inspection, just going with private certifier. Reports from hubby on his way home are that the eaves have been painted and the bagging is almost finished. I wonder when they'll do the lower roof - will they paint the top part first then take the scaffolding down and do it then so they don't have to put the scaffolding backup? Perhaps. Is there a certain time for render to dry before it is painted? Great progress Re: Our build - back on track....render started 436Mar 27, 2012 8:26 pm Just got the pics - no downpipes yet. I love those chronicle photos I have done the same thing, taking photos from the same spot at different stages, but just waiting for a bit more to be built before I post. Can't wait to see the paint over the render. I was set on doing one in brown/beige and one in Charcoal/grey - but am a little bit worried about how cold the grey might look (for our ensuite). No bath in there but a big white vanity, big mirror and quite a big NE facing clear window (with blinds eventually). Do I play safe and stick with the ever trusty brown/beige combination for both bathrooms or go "crazy" with a bit of grey for the ensuite?!! Not the best pics.... Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43846 Re: Our build - back on track....render started 440Mar 28, 2012 4:52 pm Not boring at all to keep the same tiles, we have the same floor tiles throughout the living/dining area and downstairs bathroom, laundry, main bathroom and DD ensuite, all white tiles on walls, the only difference is the niche in main bathroom and DD ensuite other than that the tiles are the same, (browny grey floor tile) but we did do the grey in the ensuite for something special but already paranoid abut how it ill look and I only did it n Friday You can always change the look with different colored towels etc Can I just work out the tiles you have posted, the top grey brown one is what you have chosen and the bottom darker grey one is what you are deciding for ensuite?? Oh and I think DH can move while you are in hospital, so you can come out with new bub in tow and it will all be done Our standard double-glazed window is tested to achieve, Rw 34, and can be glazed to suit Rw 39.
