Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 30, 2011 12:52 pm I've been looking at a house with 2740mm ceiling heights. I'd just assumed that they made the walls 300mm higher than normal and put the roof on. However, I noticed that the house has a lower alfresco ceiling line than the interiors. After looking closer, I noticed that the alfresco ceiling line was the same level as the eave lining, but the internal ceiling height on the inside of the walls was kind of built into the roof cavity. That is, it's higher than the level of the eave lining on the opposite site of the external wall. I've had a look at a few other display homes and haven't noticed the same practice. Does anyone have building expertise to say whether it is normal to raise the internal ceiling height into the roof cavity?? normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' Re: Raised Ceiling Heigh - Technical Question 2Jan 30, 2011 1:15 pm The lining of the eave is normally lower than the internal ceiling height. My last place was a 4-5 inch height difference and was std 2400mm ceilings with 450mm eaves all round. As a general rule the alfresco is usually in line with the eaves height as they are attached and made from the same material. Re: Raised Ceiling Heigh - Technical Question 3Jan 30, 2011 2:42 pm Our alfresco ceiling is the same height as the internal ceilings, which are 2740mm. But we don't have eaves. Re: Raised Ceiling Heigh - Technical Question 4Feb 01, 2011 8:37 am Problem solved - we are getting the alfresco ceiling coiffered so that it matches the internal ceiling height. The eaves will stay the same height and the ceiling inside the eave line will be raised/coiffered. It's a big alfresco (6.8m x 5m), so this will look much cleaner and we'll have plenty of clearance for ceiling fans. Thanks for all the replies. normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents?
