If so how long did the whole process take (12 months)?? June 11 - Received House Plans July 11 - Settlement Day July 11 - Pre Start Sept 11 - Slab went down October 11 - Bricks/ materials arrived Re: Snaggers Home - Nearly Finished!!! 267Nov 21, 2011 5:40 pm Its funny you should mention that. I rang them earlier today and they are just finalising all their inspection stuff and said i should be right to do my inspection when I arrive back home this thursday arvo or friday morning. It will (hopefully) all come down to the bank having the money available in time for the PCI so I can give them a cheque and they hand over my keys! Give me a chance to move in before returning to work!!! Re: Snaggers Home - Nearly Finished!!! 268Nov 21, 2011 6:32 pm Sir Snagger Thanks everyone for you kind words! Hi Wrex! It really does contrast nicely. I'm quite a fan of darker colour schemes, and this is good. Quite contemporary. I've just remembered I had to let you all know the name of the new paint for the Contrast Render. It's called "Solver Orkney 0873" Re: Snaggers Home - Nearly Finished!!! 270Nov 23, 2011 4:11 pm Some good news folks! My final payment has been approved and my PCI is set for tomorrow afternoon at 3pm!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! So if everything goes according to plan, I will be back in bunno town by 2.30 (hopefully we don't get held up at the airport!) and it will be straight to the house to meet the builders and the folks and then if I don't find any problems, the exchange happens!!! I should be able to start moving my stuff in straight away!!! It helps living only a km away already with the est of my furniture either getting delivered or is stored at my uncles place just a couple of km's further down the road. So overall it should be a pretty straight forward move! Re: Snaggers Home - Nearly Finished!!! 271Nov 23, 2011 6:45 pm So I've also received my initial landscaping plan and quote today. I've decided I want to change the stree tree as I don't really like Peppermint trees (attract the mozzies!) and it wouldn't suit the type of garden in my opinion either. Also, the COTYLEDON orbiculata is gonna change cos I reckon it's ugly Otherwise, the rest I'm pretty happy with. What does everyone else think? Who is the landscaper? Or is it included in the package with the block purchase? Re: Snaggers Home - Nearly Finished!!! 273Dec 01, 2011 3:57 pm Bonnie31 The plan for landscaping looks really flash, it will look very nice with the quarts stone and link edge.... Who is the landscaper? Or is it included in the package with the block purchase? Hi Bonnie31! It is a little bit flash, but the purpose is to make it low maintenance but interesting. I don't want the standard glass lawn with small garden bed that most new homes end up with in my area. Also, working away, I don't want to spend my time at home pulling out weeds thus the low maintenance stone look. I've actually had it modified a little since then and will get around to putting up an updated version soon, or when it's finalised, but not much has changed. The land package included the fencing and $7000 worth of landscaping for the front yard only using LD Total. They've done up the site landcaping plan for the whole block and I get to choose what I want them to do from it and then can organise the rest myself (which I will be doing a bit of). Atm, I'm looking at getting them to do the retic, weed matting, edging, paving and lawns (including synthetic lawn to the front triangle) and will be sourcing and spreading the stone myself to save on costs. It's amazing how expensive this all turns out to be! Also, I've learnt that the Street Tree (the peppermint tree) is a Capel Shire requirement, and must be put in by the landscapers to meet regulations. Still not my favourite selection though! In other news, I had my PCI last thursday as planned and it went quite well. Only small things were picked up that were mainly touch up paint here and there, a bit of mortar filling above the sliding door and around a couple of windows and a couple of other small things that were easy fixes. The laundry blind was still to be replaced because they couldn't remove what looked like paint overspray on it but would give me handover regardless of when that was to arrive (approx another week from today). I should be all good to get handover thursday afternoon when I get back from the current work stint! Exciting times! Then it'll be a case of moving in and getting the secruity installed. They've been quite good so far with information and communication. I was particularly happy with them doing the whole site plan whilst accepting that they'll only do part of the work. Anyway, here ya's go. The revised plan. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm planning on trying to source the bluemetal and quartz locally and the polished black river stones from Perth through a contacts contact. I'm thinking I'll get the landscapers to do all the before mentioned stuff (grass - both synthetic and real out the back, paving out the front, weed matting, mulch, irrigation, plants, edging). I'm thinking at this point in time that I'll pass on the pavers out the back in the lawn, but still really want the planter box with screening plants in it as I went for a wander through the house next door on the weekend and could see straight over my fence into my dining room! Re: Snaggers Home - Nearly Finished!!! 277Dec 01, 2011 7:02 pm And here's pics of the plant selection (to save you all going looking for them if your that interested ) ST - AGONIS flexuosa (Peppermint Tree) - I don't like this one and it might not live for long due to a potential unforseen accident!
