Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 28, 2011 4:19 pm Hi guys, I've been trawling through the H1 forums for a while now and now that our build is getting organised I thought I would start a new thread. As the title suggests we are building the PD Wembley 35 in Lilydale Vic. So far we have paid deposits to 2 other builders, and got to the tender stage with Fairhaven before we walked away. We settled on our block in June last year and ideally we would be half way through the build process by now but as luck would have it we just found the Wembley last Saturday and signed up for a March site start. The next month will be go go go to get everything organised so we can sign contracts before we go O/S on March 8. We're off to look at Hopetoun Interiors and National Tiles tomorrow but luckily we have our previous colour picks to make things easier! Anyway, would be great to hear from anyone else building a Wembley or something similar, I haven't found too many around yet. Please remember to keep us up to date with LOTS of Pics You might want to che out the PD blogs here viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1522 the Cremorne is similar to the wembley, might be worth looking at those ones also! I just saw a blog or thread from someone who built the Wembley the other day but now i cant find it Re: Intro - Building PD Wembley 35 4Jan 28, 2011 6:42 pm Found this you might like viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39609&p=593927&hilit=wembley#p593927 and also check out the Porter Davis thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=497&hilit=wembley Re: Intro - Building PD Wembley 35 5Jan 31, 2011 11:52 am Hi Magicjen17, Welcome to the forum & congratulations on your decision to build the Wembley 35! How did your National Tiles and Hopetoun appointment go the other day? Hopefully you enjoyed the selection process. This is a great forum for asking questions and getting some honest feedback and advice. I look forward to hearing of your progress. Let me know if you have any questions in the future. Cheers, Jess. I feel like it will be well-earned again this year. In 2010 we bought our land, fixed up and sold our house and got married in all in the first few months.. I thought this year might be quieter! So much for that haha Miss Piggy Oh i am so excited to hear you are building the Wembley 35, We are trying to choose between that (with an added Alfresco option at the rear) or the PD Chadwick 36 I think we are leaning towards the Chadwick, due to it already having the Alfresco but not 100% sure yet! Please remember to keep us up to date with LOTS of Pics Miss Piggy, I saw one of your posts in another thread about deciding which house to build. Are you any closer to a decision?? I'm not sure that we looked at a Chadwick display but it does look like a lovely house online. We seriously considered the Cremorne which was ok, but we weren't fans of the rumpus at the back and having so many living areas to keep clean and furnish (or the Nautical American theme to be honest)! I'm sure one day when we have teenagers we will need some of those extra rooms but for now we should survive! Also the dining area in the Cremorne seemed fairly small and we have a large extended family we want to fit in! We somehow, in our travels, overlooked the Wembley 35 - although I did try to see it one day when the display centre was closed - so we were pretty pleased to find it again last week. Practically signed up on the spot! Thanks for the links too, I'll be keeping my eyes on those I'm sure. Team PD Hi Magicjen17, Welcome to the forum & congratulations on your decision to build the Wembley 35! How did your National Tiles and Hopetoun appointment go the other day? Let me know if you have any questions in the future. Cheers, Jess. Thanks Jess, we are looking forward to the process. We haven't had our selection appointments yet but just went for our first look on Saturday. We have made most of our decisions at Hopetoun and National Tiles already so hopefully that will speed things up when we have our appointments sometime in the next month. No questions yet, our salesperson Daniel has been really helpful trying to get everything organised so the tender and contract can be done quickly! Thanks again guys, will try to get some photos up as we go along. jen Re: Intro - Building PD Wembley 35 7Feb 03, 2011 7:28 pm Well we got our confirmation letter today from Porter Davis from our Customer Service Coordinator. So far so good. We have our tender appointment next Thursday, which I'm not really looking forward to tbh as we will find our our site costs and I'm a bit worried about them! Contract signing is scheduled for March 3 so should have everything organised before we go away. I think February might be quite busy. I will try to get some photos of our currently quite boring block soon. Re: Intro - Building PD Wembley 35 8Feb 04, 2011 10:47 am Hi magicjen17, No need to stress! At your tender appointment, the tender presenter will go through the site costs for your land in detail and your specific site plans. The appointment will also confirm minor structural changes (i.e. windows, doors, walls). Your engineering and contract drawings, along with you 5 star and bushfire assessment will then be ordered in time for your contract presentation. Check out our blog post for more info on Tender: http://blog.porterdavis.com.au/index.ph ... emetender/ If you have any questions or concerns I suggest talking to your sales person. They'll happily provide you with up to date answers and let you know what you need to prepare for. Keep us updated on how you go. Goodluck Cheers, Jess. Porter Davis Homes Questions? I am in the middle of the process in constructing a wembley 35 in South Eastern. Currently I am in the fixing stage. Wembley is a great design if you want a medium scale double story house. I have a post subjected as "Porter Davis - Experiences on Wembley 35", but I couldn't find anyone over there who is building the same design. I have posted couple of posts in "Porter Davis home" thread & it would be worth to read that thread, as you can see the experiences of the other people who are building with PD eventhough the comments are not only for wembley 35. If you need any help in figuring out the things just drop me a message, as I will try my best to provide the info... All the best in your appointments.......
