How frustrating for you and your family - Esp when it so close to completion and Xmas - Its there but not there Frustrating..... I agree with Bel/haywgl too - Better to have Kevin on site and that way any issues can sort out with your builder straight away Good luck. Regards beegee Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 884Nov 25, 2008 8:23 am Oh VJ,
I've only just caught up with your thread!! I thought you would be in by now.... Best of luck with it all, my fingers are crossed that you are in before xmas and the next time I look there will be lots of photos for me to look at! ![]() Paula Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 885Nov 26, 2008 8:24 pm Kev wasn't available today...
but the meeting was cancelled anyway. we were told that the BM is available tomorrow or on Friday. We are not available tomorrow... Kev is available on Friday at 2pm... Initially they said 1:30 pm on Friday would be alright... then... bad news... the BM is again not available on FRiday! ![]() We're losing our patience... actually, it's fine if there is progress in the house... but nothing.. nada... looks like they are intentionally prolonging our agony so we would just give in, take the keys, hand them the last cheque and that's it! ![]() but no... tomorrow, we are going to ring them. what's the bottom line? if they are not going to fix, then what's the use of the meeting? we're wasting time.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 887Nov 26, 2008 8:34 pm Oh VJ, I feel your pain ![]() ![]() What sort of problems were on Kev's final report (if you have received it)? Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 888Nov 26, 2008 11:35 pm DO NOT give in and take those keys!!!! You think they are slow at rectifying your issues now, wait until they have all your money!!! Maybe they are trying to find an appointment time when Kevin is NOT available...they may think it will be easier to intimidate you into accepting faults without an ' expert ' around. Maybe it is time to mention a few choice letters....like a V, C an A and a T!!! Stay strong, good luck! Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 889Dec 01, 2008 10:14 pm i'm back to give you an update...
the much-awaited meeting with M's CM & BM finally happened today! and SS was there too! i even worked a few hours last Sunday, worked 2 hours this morning (at 7am!), left early to be able to attend the meeting, and went back to the office early in the afternoon. that's how important this meeting is! with us was the great Kev! they were not aware that we have kev with us... i purposedly didn't tell them, as i was thinking that they might cancel the meeting again. the meeting went well... CM was very good.. they run through the whole list provided by Kev. i was just there to listen and from time to time, they ask DH whether we would still like them to fix it or not (those that would involve ripping off tiles, etc.). so bottom line, most of the issus would be fixed. DH agreed not to fix the issues that would involve ripping off the tiles to the ensuite bath tub and bathroom floor tiles (floor not levelled). we were very happy with the result. it was funny... SS kept on complaining... CM kept on telling him 'just fix it'. one major issue that needs fixing is the window above the kitchen benchtop. i really hated it because it was lower on the left side of the window and it doesn't look good. it's the kitchen! CM was suggesting different ways on how to fix it, but SS kept on providing excuses. in the end, CM decided that the window will have to be removed re-fitted properly (which is great!). problem is, the very one thing i hated most won't be further fixed - the visible joins to the cladding! yes, they did fix it... you won't see the joins during day time.. but in the afternoon, the joins were still visible! ![]() DH asked why there's a need for joins, even if the standard size of the cladding is 4.2m (which is the length of the cladded area). they said they buy in lineal metre ![]() in other words, they won't fix it! and the sad thing is, they couldn't see the joins because meetings always happen in the morning or early afternoon (just like today). but the good thing is, the bottom cladding will be fixed, because it is crooked. SS complained (he was blaming the framing, etc..., didn't want to fix it ![]() ![]() kudos to M's CM! ![]() ![]() ![]() they are going to fix it in 2 weeks' time... so we're still hoping that we could get the keys by mid-December. just wondering if there are available tilers/carpet layers by 3rd week of December ![]() fingers crossed... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Just saw this update VJ - So it means ur not in for Xmas ... What a pain - Iam sure it is going to be worth it to get it all right and have these issues fixed now rather than have them fixed after u move in . Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 897Dec 07, 2008 9:24 pm Sorry for not updating you guys......
been very busy at work...... and not inspired at the moment due to the delays in our handover... we were fortunate to drop by last Saturday and saw the house opened. a tradie was there and we came in to see what were fixed. nothing much, unfortunately. hope that they will keep their promise of fixing all isses by the 12th of Dec. we are still hoping to be in before Christmas. we rang the tiler and he said he would be available after the 12th. our dining table (yes, the Pyramid!) and chairs were already delivered last Friday (5th).. couldn't move the delivery anymore, as the supplier had already store them for more than a month now ![]() we stored it in the garage, so our car needs to be parked outside. we were undecided whether to open the wrapping of the table (heavily wrapped) in order to see if it is in good order. what will happen if we find out when we move that there was damage? our new lounge set is also in the family room... so no more area for the kids to play anymore. my father will be coming this coming weekend (14th Dec) and we don't know how an we survive in a 2-bedroom unit with 5 adults and 2 kids (and all the new furnitures inside the house!) ![]() if by mid-week (around 17th) we don't see much progress to the house.. then that's it! my patience is running out and we are so stresse out already. we were planning to have a nice Christmas in our house with some relatives from overseas. i'm not sure if it would still push through ![]() for now, still hoping to see more progress this coming week... and get the keys before Christmas (even if we don't have carpets to the bedrooms this coming Christmas)... ![]() ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Imagine living at the house and always seeing those mistakes! Hang in there, it won't be long. Good luck. Hi guys, my contracted states 220 days for the builder.
