Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ DH is a bit worried because of the tiled shower base.. if we remove the floor tiling from our contract.. then M do the wall tiling to wet areas... it would mean that the floor tile would not sit under the wall tile... wonder if it would affect the water proofing... don't know if i'm explaining it properly ![]() any thoughts would be appreciated... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 403Jun 17, 2008 11:39 pm Hi there VJ,
Haven't chatted for ages, but i see all is going well. I have quietly been following your progress, and i must say it is looking awesome! Can't wait to see the finished product. Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 404Jun 18, 2008 3:08 pm Thanks, MICA.
We can't wait to have our house soon... --------- Ok, we finally decided... after CSR told us that we can cancel the floor tiling to all wet areas... we decided to keep the CHOC HARMONY floor tiles to the 1st floor wet areas (meaning, M will still do the tiling as per contract).. and.. we will cancel the floor tiling (ONLY) to the ground floor wet areas (laundry and powder room). that way, we can use the new tile that we like (the ZURICH GHETTO). M will still do the wall tiling to the ground floor wet areas (it's just above the laundry benchtop and around the powder room mirror) and we'll do the floor tiling after handover. We also requested for a change in mortar colour.. wonder if we would be allowed to change it. Emailed the CSR about it... let's see what happens next. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 407Jun 18, 2008 7:48 pm I also like the new tile VJ
Can't wait to see how it looks in your new house ![]() Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 408Jun 18, 2008 7:56 pm Great news about the tiles VJ - both tiles are beautiful colours and will look fantastic - can't wait to see the pics ![]() Dana -------------------------- Building with DFH - carpet installed! We've already emailed our CSR about our decision on the floor tiles.. hoping to receive a response from her tomorrow. We're looking forward to a better communication with our CSR.. she rang me 2days ago and we discussed all the outstanding issues that we emailed her and haven't responded for months... she was apologetic and that was great. So far, we've received the user id and password to gain online access to our building status.. she emailed it today... and she forward us the building inspection report that was issued by their own inspector on 22/11/2007.. there's no approval yet, as there were still outstanding issues with the frame. She also responded within the same day that I told her we're going to have inspection on Thursday... So yes, DH will be meeting Kev tomorrow for the pre-plaster inspection.. 7am. SS won't be there but because the internal door (entry from the garage) hasn't been installed yet (even if we already paid the lock-up invoice), SS said we can gain access thru that door. Hoping there aren't any major issues tomorrow.. otherwise, another reason for delays... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! How do no floor tiles work to getting a certificate of occupancy and your water proofing, What sort of rebate do they give you? Is it worth saying keep the $ and I will supply the tiles if you lay them? No idea how much rebate we would get.. we should get a rebate for the standard floor tiles and the porcelain tiles that we upgraded.. Quote: Is it worth saying keep the $ and I will supply the tiles if you lay them? Hmmm.. that's a great idea.. but too late now, I guess. I already emailed our CSR to delete the floor tiles from our contract to the Laundry and Powder room downstairs. About Kevin's pre-plaster inspection, I haven't really spoken with DH.. but he sent me a short email early this arvo telling me that Kev found most issues in the Kitchen, but nothing major as before (frame stage). Kev also told DH that he like our HT sliding doors.. but expensive though ![]() Will let you know about the details of the pre-plaster inspection once I've spoken with DH. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! It's from Hynes... and the CHOC HARMONY one (the one we upgraded thru our builder is from Beaumont). Actually there's a rough version of it that is meant to be used outdoors.. might have a look to see if it would be better to use it in our Alfresco area.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! We changed it from alabaster to Havannah 280. So it won't be too white... it's really great! Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 417Jun 20, 2008 12:48 am VJ, your house is looking really beautiful, you should be proud. I also love love your stained timber windows. I wish we can get them also but we simply couldnt afford it.
My friend buit with M about 4 years ago (i dont know how the laws are now) but she got a tiler to do all the floors for the wet areas after handover. So I'm pretty sure its allowed. Hope that helps, altho you've already decided on what to do. haha i thought i would put my two cents in ![]() ![]() Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 418Jun 20, 2008 7:56 am Quote: Anne, We read it somewhere in this forum that builders need to do the wet areas tiling in order to get cert of occupancy... am i wrong? I think I may have worked out why - Are all your shower bases tray's? If so with the wall tiles & the shower screens on they would be water proofed. We have got tiled shower bases, so to leave these it would be an issue.
