Actually thinking about it more, it could be nice to have a different tile in bathrooms etc to living, to separate the areas. I guess it's out of your hands anyway, but I'd be happy either way.

Nice to know that you both like the tiles...
We like both tiles.. but the new tile would look better with our benchtop and paint colours.

DH was of that opinion too... to have different tile in wet areas and living.

We're still awaiting our CSR's response.

We already ordered the new tiles yesterday (to lock in the discounted price) and will put in a deposit on Saturday. If our builder approves our request, we will just add more tiles for the wet areas.
The tile supplier agreed that delivery of the tiles would be sometime in Sept... handover date.

We now have ceiling to our eaves!

Issue though.. the middle balcony posts are NOT vertically plumb (not aligned!!!) :

Let me know of your thoughts on this.. how are they going to fix this one now? the balcony posts were already encased with bricks! Those exposed timber areas are supposed to be painted.. and it's so obvious that they do not align! :evil:

VJ, i am sure that when you mention it to your supervisor, he will agree that it need to be fixed. so mention it soon. and for the colour selection, i think you are a head several steps from me. i and wife too conservative to try new colour, and end up putting neutral colour all around our house, except the brick.

At what point does the carpentar who is putting up the soffits say "what the?" and actually ring someone to let them know. Sorry that is called being proactive and none of M's tradesmans appear to be that.

Hope it is fixed quickly and easily.

DH was actually there yesterday and got hold of the carpenter who was doing the ceiling.
He mentioned about that issue and he said he was just doing his job.

Are the 'vertically mismatched posts' going to be bricked around?

If so, don't worry about the alignment as you wont see them!

The house is looking great VJ - you must be rapt. As Matt mentioned, if the misaligned posts are being bricked around the issue shouldn't be noticable (hopefully). I hope that the tile issue is rectified for you too - fight for what you want, after all you are the one paying for it, not the builder

Great taste? I hope so... we really love our bricks! It's good that we chose it over the Newport. Can't wait to see the tapware installed, tiles, etc.. getting exciting everyday!

That 'vertically mismatched posts' won't be bricked anymore.. based on the photos that we have of the display home.. and the plans... the bricked area had already been done. That's why we emailed our CSR and sent the photos that we posted here (cc the CM) because we felt it was urgent that our SS is made aware that there was an issue with the posts. SS rang DH last Thursday, after we emailed CSR and he said we should't worry, as it would be covered further. But we were wondering.. because if you check the plans, those posts won't be covered anymore. I will post the display home balcony so you can see.

Thanks, Kryten. I will post a photo of the display home's balcony so you would have an idea how it should look like.
WE are really hoping that they would allow us to swap the tiles.. we're going to put a deposit tomorrow for the new tiles..

Looking at this, how do you reckon they would fix the misaligned posts?
SS was not admitting this is an issue.. he said it would be covered with cladding. How come it wasn't on the plans? Anyway, as long as it won't be obvious that the posts were misaligned, we have no issues with it.

Still no land yet - we have found a great prospect though - they are advertising it for auction $50k over what we can afford so we are keeping our fingers crossed that it doesn't sell at auction and we can grab it cheaper in a private sale.

And yes you do have great taste! Love the display home pic too!!

I hope that they sort the posts out for you - if your SS is not coming to the party go over his head if you have to. Being at the front of the property and a focal point they should fix it before proceeding with cladding.

On a side note, I hope that the auction falls through Bel :evil:

so you can get the land you have your eyes on.

SS called up DH last Thursday.. he said we shouldn't worry as they are going to clad it. Now, DH and I are wondering how they are going to clad it.. because it wasn't on the plans. He didn't admit that it was an isssue... he was as if saying that it wasn't finished yet (ie cladding to follow).
Then DH asked that it (the cladding) should also be done to the other posts (not only the middle one). SS said yes.. but clarified that the pergola posts won't be included. hehe...

The auction is at the end of May - so a little while away, the only other problem is that the current house doesn't have a driveway so we will have to apply to have one built if we get the land
