Looking great VJ. Love those timber doors and windows Are you having a roller door to the rear of your garage? We are having one but not sure what it will look like as we haven't seen one on any M display house. Looking forward to more pics Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 645Sep 12, 2008 11:25 am Looks absolutely gorgeous, VJ - you must be absolutly dying to get in!!!
I'd be interested to hear how they deal with the 'went over the contract period' issue , too, as ours will at least be pushed to the limit! And do they have to start paying if they don't actually hand over the keys, or do they consider it 'finished' at Practical Completion ??? I just saw on that your site works started DEC 07, you must be SO ready for it to be finished Hoping your handover date is soon. Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 647Sep 12, 2008 12:39 pm I love the style of your house VJ - especially the mix of external finishes. Hope they don't keep you waiting too much longer.
'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 648Sep 12, 2008 6:48 pm Thanks everyone!
Might have to remind our builder that as per contract, house should be ours by the 26th of Sept! Quote: VJ, my understanding is it will be deducted from your final payment. Not 100% sure though. Quote: Should be....make sure they don't try the "no we'll refund you later" which by builder tried....but failed..... joles/TDL, That makes sense.. deduct the penalty from our final payment. Will definitely not agree on the "refund later" strategy... Quote: Lovely VJ! Wish they'd put the proper balcony railings up, then the outside would look finished! donuts, Hope when we visit the house tomorrow, the proper balcony railings are up! We were requesting for our bricks to be re-cleaned, due to the whitish/yellowish spots that we've been noticing. Once it's cleaned and external light fittings are installed, then that would complete the outside! Quote: Love the facade VJ! Not long now............. We extended the garage to make way for a mud room and a rear roller door, as we are planning to allow extra cars to be parked to the side of the house. It's good that you'll be having it too... is it standard with the house that you're building? Quote: Looks absolutely gorgeous, VJ - you must be absolutly dying to get in!!! I wonder if anyone here had experienced going over the contract period. I was thinking that the contract period should be from site start to handover date. Quote: VJ, your house looks amazing. It's almost a 10-month build time, and it doesn't even include the floor coverings! That is why we were expecting to get the house on time. Anyway, as long as they give us a quality house, we are willing to wait for a few more weeks. Yes, we love the mix of our external finishes.. that is why we chose this house and facade! Tomorrow, we might ring the tiler to ask whether he had already finished the tiling. If yes, we might ask if he can meet us so we can have a look at the quality of his laying... that way, we get to see the house inside! yeepee!!! fingers crossed... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Hi VJ, The roller door was an upgrade, we also extended the garage for a workshop and extra storage space and we decided to add a roller door (which is wider than a standard door) so we can easily move things from the front of the house to the back. DH is worried how all the furniture will get in when we move in, so this might be the way Can't wait to see your benchtop, are you having waterfall edges? Also looking forward to the pics [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 655Sep 14, 2008 8:31 pm I'm so excited to post this...
These photos were taken at lunch time. Tiler said he would finish it within the day. let's start from the outside of the house: Tiles to the balcony were laid... but no grout yet: Laundry door painted: Looking from the Mud room : Powder room (with the stone benchtop): Stained bi-fold and sliding doors: Kitchen benchtop with waterfall sides (but the wrong size! should be 100mm and not 40mm!): Oh I don't like the colour of the kickboard... we didn't really think about it... we should have used the same colour as the cupboards! Wonder if we can change it in the future? But I'm not really fussed at the moment.. but if we can change it in the future, that would be great!) Look at the state of our Master bedroom while the tiler was laying tiles to our ensuite: Ensuite: Shower niche (notice the colours in the tile... it's a combination of olive green, brown and beige... same colour as our benchtop, wall tiles and floor tiles! love it!) : Kids' bathroom (with tiling surrounding the mirror): We are going to email our CSR about our kitchen benchtop waterfall sides... we could just say that we saw it through the bi-fold doors Wonder how long will it take to replace the waterfall sides? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Your house looks great, congrats on wonderful color selections!!! Your waterfall edges look fine to my untrained eye, so when they fix them to the 100mm they really will be a wow factor - hope the fix them quickly and smoothly for you. Bel Still not in. Don't ask!?
