Nice to see them laid so well too.
We've gone for porcelain tiles in our place as well (couldn't get them out of my head no matter how hard I tried). Whenever anyone asks me what I'm looking forward to most about the new house, my instant response is always "the tiles". Of course, that means it's also the part I'm most worried about--I really want them to be laid straight and neat with minimal gaps, especially since our hallway extends through the entire 25 metre length of the house in a long line from front door to back door. Any minor error in alignment will be very noticeable! Nice job, glad you're pleased with it. --Mike Everything I know, I learned from SBS. Congratulations! Your house looks fantastic, love the shiny tiles too.
We just moved to Point Cook to be closer to the construction when it starts. Did you get M to do your driveway? We wanted to go for exposed aggregate but M says they no longer do it. Looking forward to seeing some more pictures. Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 991Jan 27, 2009 12:33 pm Quote: Congrat!! and enjoy your new home Thanks, claego. We still don't have our driveway (chose not to do it with M) and we know someone who could do it superbly. It was referred by our neighbour. Hi VJ, Yes, we love Point Cook, i think that i've seen your house on the way to the freeway, it looks fantastic! I hope mine will be as nice as yours when it is finished. DS loves the additional space in a house and the garden. Would you mind PM'ing me the details of the concreter that you will be using? Was your neighbour happy with their work? Are you going for coloured concrete or exposed aggregate? M doesn't do exposed aggregate anymore and we prefer the look of it, so i am hoping we can get someone else to do it after handover. Was there anything you had to make sure was in place before the concreter lays the concrete/exposed aggregate? Thanks for your help. He was the one who asked for the details from our neighbour. It look like they are happy with the result and the concreter's charge was way too low compared to others who gave quotes. Yes, we're going for exposed aggregate.. but still finalising finances with the bank. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 994Jan 29, 2009 4:13 pm Ok, time for some photos... sorry, only 3 photos at this time.
I'm using dial-up at the moment and it's sssoooooooooo slow! I'm just going to show the tiled Entry Hallway and my DD's room (to show the carpet). The bed is just ****** on the carpet, as we haven't bought her the bunk bed that she wants (imagine, now that we have 4 bedrooms, DS and DD want to share a room because they want to sleep on a bunk bed!). There are lots of things that need to be done.. the Leisure area has no floor coverings yet (we ordered REadyflor's Spotted Gum but there's no stock at the moment). Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 995Jan 29, 2009 4:16 pm OMG, I realised that I didn't even fix my DD's bed before I took the photos today!
And can you see the sofa from the entry hallway? That's our new King Strata sofa.. my parents are sleeping there at the moment, so can't take photos of that area yet... will do that over the weekend. BTW, it's DD's bday tomorrow... she's 9! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 997Jan 29, 2009 5:05 pm Wow! Those are very nice tiles indeed. The colour is perfect. I love the glossy look. We have the matt tiles and I find that I was see all the blemishes and marks on them. I am forever mopping them. Could I ask if I seal the tiles, would it repell dirt? Lovely house by the way. Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 999Jan 29, 2009 5:41 pm Absloluely beautiful VJ.
Your tiles are gorgeous in fact your whole house is gorgeous, I need you as my colour consultant Can you let us know how hard it is too keep these tiles clean when you get a moment and if they show up sweaty feet marks if someone walks on them bare foot. I luvvvvvvv porcelain tiles also and have been pingponging between what I love and what is practical. But now Iv'e seen yours I've bounced back again, maybe will have to do a bit more cleaning for the look I love. Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Building our dream home.. walls no longer bare! 1000Jan 29, 2009 6:11 pm happy birthday to DD!
those tiles are still soo beautiful vj just gorgeous. what carpet did you end up going with? it looks a bit like mine... (Augusta lane by beaulieu). also just curious, why did you go for timber in the leisure areas and not tiles all the way through>?
