Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 25, 2011 1:21 pm Hi there, Not sure if this is in the right section but I have an issue with my builder post-handover regarding money they owe me. In my contract I had to pay an asset protection levy of $1017 of which $206 was for the application fee and $811 was a bond, which in turn the builder paid to the council. I went to the council last week regarding a refund of the bond and I was informed the builder never paid the bond or application fee. Am I wrong to ask for that money which is mine paid back asap? How long is a reasonable time I should wait for them to send me a cheque? I'd give them a week to raise the cheque otherwise would be investigating other avenues to recoup the money ie small claims tribunal.
