Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 23, 2011 10:30 pm Hi, We are going through first 3 months maintenance period after handover. One of the issues we have noticed is our brick has developed white patches. Can somebody put light on the reason of bricks developing these white patches? I can only think it might be due to excessive use of acid while washing the bricks. I may be wrong but I need some other views so that I can communicate with the builder accordingly, Thanks a lot, Regards Re: Bricks Issues - White Patches have developed 2Jan 24, 2011 5:05 am Its probably efforvescence which can happen in some bricks. That is is the movement of salts to the surface of the brick. You can you pressure wash it however you are just driving more water into the face of the brick and bringing out more salts. Keep it brushed off the best you can and it will stop on its own eventually. Regards The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! It's about the trades you hire and ensuring that they give a result that meets the industry standard and the home owners expectations. Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess.
