Is it true that it's better to compact the soil surrounding our house to prevent crack in the concrete slab?

hmmmm not sure. i thought it was important to not start bricking too quick. not sure about compacting the soil sorry

p.s what state are you in cos i know the soil in WA is different to eastern states which might affect requirements
