Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 21, 2011 8:53 am Hi All I'm building a new home in norwest area Sydney. There's a green electric box at the front corner of our land, and it's also an easement. Just wondering if our fence may be extended to shield the green box so it becomes invisible to us. I'll check with builder and council, but I assume it's probably not allowed due to the easement. Ok, if not, can I have a privacy screen next to the green box? Moreover, I may ask the builder to build a 'sliding' privacy screen for us. What I'm thinking was to put rail under the screen, so the screen can be slided back and forward. Once any work needs to be done on the green box, people or I may slide the screen back into the aisle. Please advise if this design is realistic and doable. Could you offer any other ideas? Such as screen plants... The green box is really ugly and I want to somehow make it 'invisible' to our side. Picture is attached below. The green rectangle indicates the electric box. Dotted line shows the easement. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks! Re: Privacy screen next to a green electric box? 3Jan 21, 2011 1:41 pm I would ring your electricity distributor and ask them; they will require access for maintenance and may have clearance standards. The easment just means that the electricity board have to have access. The best thing is to contact the board The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
