Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 21, 2011 7:26 am Hey Guys, I'm looking to build a Wadorf 44 sq from Porter Davis Prestige. Does anyone know the price of category 8 bricks (will be using Austral brick)? I love the Elements range from Austal and it's a Category 8 upgrade with Porter Davis. Thanks heaps guys Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 2Jan 21, 2011 8:18 am best thing to do is ring and ask them. Different house sizes will vary in price and it will also vary if you plnn on having higher ceilings. Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 3Jan 21, 2011 8:25 am I just need a rough estimate. No one at Porter Davis knows the price; all they say is that you will know the price at tender.... If anyone can share their experience with Austral brick upgrade would help me heaps. Should I assume $1,000 increase per category? (e.g. - $7,000 for increasing to category 8 - category 1 is already included)???? Cheers Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 4Jan 21, 2011 8:56 am That would seem about right we upgraded to category 2 for $1020, we were looking at Category 6 for a 30sq and were told "about $5k", we never got a firm price. Also allow for non standard mortar if you're going to go down that road, ours was $771 Being a larger home I would maybe allow a little more, do the old multiply by X and add 2 My building thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36059 Paid initial deposit 24/7/10 Tender appointment 20/8/2010 Flooring and tile appointment 25/9/10 Colour and Electrical appointment 13/9/10 December site start delayed Site start (YAY!) 17/1/11 Slab pour 1/2/2011 Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 5Jan 21, 2011 9:02 am Bugs me how they can't say how much. When we initially signed on we got a sheet telling how much all the upgrades would set us back and it was so helpful. But I'd be guessing a bit for cat 8 on a 2 storey. Land Deposit - 18/12/2009 Became a land Baron - 21/12/2010 Site Start - 27/1/2011 All moved in!! Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 6Jan 21, 2011 3:58 pm Hi tstr1a, We are also building a Waldorf 44! Cat 6 bricks were an upgrade cost of $6111.00, we also had just the front balcony priced for cat 8 bricks, which was $1352.00. As the front balcony is now rendered as part of the promotion, I think you could safely assume cat 8 for rest of the home would be about $8500.00 or if you also wanted to include the balcony, around $9800.00. We just had our colour and electrical appointments yesterday, which was fantastic! Both our consultants were lovely and very helpful, which made everything so much easier. Our contract appointment is on 31/01. Have you bought your land? What area will you be building? If I can help with anything, just let me know! Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 7Jan 24, 2011 11:28 pm Thanks mimi23, It's good having someone building the same house. Makes it easier sharing the same experience. Building in Berwick and site start will be in July. What brick are u using? How much should I allow for the electrical upgrade? Thanks heaps for ur help Regards Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 8Jan 25, 2011 12:20 am Hi tstr1a, We're building at Arena Estate in Officer, so not too far away from you. Site start was to be in March but due to delays with the land, will now be April/May. We're having Homestead Mushroom for the main brick, Elements Zinc to the front balcony and render to the garage. As far as electrical upgrades, it really depends on what you want. Ducted Vac was around $1700.00 Video intercom (colour) was $1304.00 plus a second monitor $528.00, (we just had the pre-wiring done for $396.00) Lots of extra batten lights which we will change to downlights after handover and extra electrical points was around $3500.00 Didn't get an alarm system either as we will also install after handover, much cheaper that way. Which staircase are you thinking of having? Are you upgrading the front doors or having the 10 light door as on the display? There are some nice Caesar Stone colours in cat.1 which is good but I guess it depends on what you want. So much to think about! But it's a relief to have our colours locked in, so that I can't change my mind anymore! Thanks heaps guys Hi tstr1a, I had a look into this for you to see if I could help answer your question. Brick upgrades are a very involved process to estimate as they are specific to design and slab conditions and change with client variations. Generally the upgrade to Cat 8 (from Cat 1) rate for bricks is $816 per thousand. In the Waldorf 44 there are approximately 17,700 bricks. Keep in mind these are just broad estimates and final costings are prepared by the regional offices when preparing the tender. I hope that helps answer your question. Let me know if there is anything else you wish to know. Cheers, Jess. Porter Davis Homes Questions? Ours will be straight and the end and won’t curve in. Also we are filling in the open pillars and closing off the wall between the lounge and the dining room. With the front door I'm going for a pivot door with a single sidelight. Also I am going for the bathroom option 2 which removes the stair case void and merges 2 bathrooms to create one shared bathroom accessible by anyone upstairs. Regards Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 12Jan 27, 2011 9:10 am Hey Guys, Thanks for all your help. I had a meeting with the Porter Davis sales consultant and category 8 bricks where priced as a $16,000 upgrade for the Waldorf 44. Thanks Jess for your help, you were spot on. At this stage I think I’ll be upgrading to category 2 which is $1,600 extra. I would love to upgrade to the category 8 bricks but they are too pricey. Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 13Jan 27, 2011 10:44 am $16,000 wow!!! That is pricey! So, which cat 2 brick did you guys choose then?? We were looking at Homestead Tan and Urban Chocolate before deciding on Homestead Mushroom. Regards, mimi Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 14Jan 27, 2011 10:53 am If you really love the cat. 8 Elements brick, could you maybe have it to the front of the house only?? Then have a cat. 1 or cat. 2 to the sides and rear. I have seen a lot of display homes with a different brick to just the front of the house. Just a thought..... Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 15Jan 27, 2011 11:57 am I think we are going to select the urban one chocolate. I want to keep the bick colour consistent. will now render the bottom front to beak ii up. Lucky PD include a part render in there promo. Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 16Jan 27, 2011 3:40 pm tstr1a I think we are going to select the urban one chocolate. I want to keep the bick colour consistent. will now render the bottom front to beak ii up. Lucky PD include a part render in there promo. The Urban One Chocolate bricks are really nice! Render to the bottom half will look great as well. Will you also have the front projection (balcony) rendered as included in the promo, or are you having the bottom half in lieu of the balcony? I guess it would change with the facade you choose. We're having the Kiandra facade so we only get render to the front balcony included. Then you've got to pick your colours, render, garage, gutters, fascia, downpipes, roof tiles, trims.... Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 19Feb 04, 2011 1:43 am tstr1a had a look at a double storey with urban one chocolate and it looked absolutely stunning. PD priced cat. 2 bricks for the waldorf 44 at $1800. Hi tstr1a, Would you mind sending me a PM of the address? We were going to have the Urban One Chocolate and I'm just curious as to how it would have looked. Thanks, mimi Re: Price of category 8 brick for Porter Davis Prestige 20Feb 04, 2011 1:50 am Forgot to ask you tstr1a, have PD provided you a price for the off white mortar? Also, are you still having the upper half (or was it the lower half?) on the facade rendered and if so, have you received a price from them? Regards, mimi Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 13550 Hi Kristy Around $1.7-1.8m or around $4,600/sqm. if you PM me your email I will send you a break up in a spreadsheet so you can get an understanding of the costs for… 1 12514 Wow I hadn't realised things had gotten that pricey in just a couple of years since I built, that is crazy with how much land is now costing if you aren't lucky enough to… 3 7328 |
