Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 41Mar 20, 2011 10:05 pm Yeah, hopefully it will be sorted soon. Not only is is holding us up, but it cost is an extra $1080 to hire an acoustic engineer and they will probably tell us there is no problem. Coral homes are doing it all for us so we are spared the hassle there. Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 43Apr 01, 2011 10:02 am Hmmmmm. 12 days without an update.... lol Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 44Apr 01, 2011 11:12 am Sorry about the lack of updates but i have some new pics! Roof is all done, plaster is up and bogged still yet to do the cornice and the brickies just started yesterday more pics on their way.

They'll motor ahead from where you are at now! I can't wait till we get started. We're going to race Tamara!! lol I hope so!! I have been a bit over it all today. I was really hoping that we would hear something this week. We were told the acoustics stuff will take about 2 weeks and it is now coming up 3 weeks. I hate where we are living (rental). I have uni exams coming up which also raises the stress levels too. Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 52Apr 01, 2011 10:43 pm Snaps - Love the flooring!! It is going to make the place look so nice and light!! Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 54Apr 02, 2011 1:05 pm Upnorth I just went back to check your plans after looking at the pics.... is your alfresco shorter than usual in the 279? Yup its about 1.8 m shorter i think, otherwise we couldnt fit the house on the block because of an easement the position of that 90X90 post in the alfresco really pisses me off, there isnt even enough room to fit a 6 seater setting. Tamara, if i was to do it again id get a steel rhs beam running the entire legenth of the alfresco to eliminate the posts. The display home in coomera had an extended alfresco area that was about 1-2m deeper - reallly made a big difference, just a thought. Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 55Apr 02, 2011 1:19 pm We did look into having the beam but it was about $3000. We couldn't justify that cost. The poles annoy me too but we will learn to live with them lol. Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 56Apr 02, 2011 1:38 pm Oh, and we have made our alfresco deeper. We bought the alfresco into the house a bit) and have also ended up extending out as well. We are also looking at extending again from the end of the bedrooms to the the garage. Have you got the room to extend the patio outwards? It might look nice if you put in a patio roof (from stratco or the like) later on. Re: Ant & Shannons Coral Homes - stradbroke 279 57Apr 02, 2011 2:54 pm I tossed up the idea of stealing some space from the living space to add to the alfresco. Decided to leave it be in the end, but it's a good idea. Years down the track once the kids are older and don't really need as much yard space I would like to do the Stratco thing and extend that space outwards. The Grand Alfresco in the Coomera display is really nice. The Grand Alfresco in the Coomera display is really nice. Great idea!! We have teenagers so we don't really need the yard space. We are having grass in the back right hand corner in an area fenced off for vege gardens and chooks! We are having glass pool fencing right off our alfresco and we look down the length of the pool andlook at a waterfall. It would have been so much nicer without the poles. Never mind. maybe int he next house lol Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
