Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 19, 2011 11:37 pm Hi
Well, having read lots of threads by others who are building (I have stolen a few ideas ), I thought it was time to start ours. We are currently waiting for our plans, but I am going to try to upload our preliminary plans, which I am already making a few changes to. We can't do any structural changes at this point, but if anyone has any ideas then please go ahead and let me know. We are wondering where to put the gas point for the fire and can only think on the right hand wall (as you look at the plan) in the dining room. We are extending wardrobes in front bedrooms 2 and 3. Also, we are moving the door on the master suite to the left (upwards on the plan) so that the space behind the door in our room we can have a linen cupboard added (if that makes sense). In the living area just to the left of the double doors as you walk in from the entry there is an indentation in the wall where we have decided to put doors and have a big enclosed DVD cupboard. All comments and ideas are welcomed though - we are due our plans next week so we can still make some smaller changes if we choose to. So far, the kitchen is going to be lustrous elm horizontal and mist grey formica gloss with nougat caesar stone and fools gold splashback. The ensuite and bathroom is going to be linen caesar stone and polar white gloss cupboards. Laundry is peace stone natural finish laminex and mist grey formica gloss cupboards. Still trying to work out what to do with WIP as having it as per display so may change the surface in there to nougat stone too? Tile board for throughout is Willow (browns, whites and greys like all the other choices) and we will use this throughout we think. Anyway - this is where we are up to and I look forward to any feedback and chatting to other peeps who are building at the moment Oooh so excited! We are fairly new to the country and this is the first time we have built (apart from a little extenion a couple of years ago - lol!) Struggling with uploading pic , so have put link??? Yay I have done it - the image is there - thanks Bagheera for that. The plan is resort/amari mix, but we have changed alot - stretched the house and changed ceiling heights, ensuite, wardrobe sizes, windows, kitchen, etc. Pops x Re: Building with DAH 6Jan 20, 2011 12:06 pm Miss Your plan looks great! I look forward to following the progress of your build! Hi Miss Thanks, just had a quick look at yours and it looks amazing. I like the laudry draws - genious . Kitchen looks fab. I really am so excited for us to get started and we have so far to go, but looking at everyone elses homes coming together makes me wanna have mine done now . I was at the back of the queue when it came to patience, but I do believe I need to find some - quickly - if I am not to go mad during the build of our house . Thanks Sezza. We love it. Was really good at pre pre-start! We have the 'real thing' on Friday, but met with them last week to give them a list of things we know we want prices on so she can bring that to the meeting on Friday and we can make some firm decisions. Loving our choices though - beyond excited with the whole thing, but I guess this is the nice bit - picking out all the colours and pulling things together. Bagheera hey Popsicals - pre-start on a Saturday - now that's dedication Good luck I know Bagheera, but in all honesty if they has asked me to go at 2.00 in the morning I think I would have accepted - just very excited to see things moving and starting to visualise what it is going to look like - eeek we are on our way! carlswil Your plan is great. Very excited for us both, but also impatient and want it done NOW! Not quite how it works . It's good to have someone at the same point in the process as us - we can compare as we go along and hopefully we will have a few good things to say along the way Pops x Re: Building with DAH - N & J - Resort/Amari Mix 17Feb 16, 2011 12:17 pm hi pops, i finally got on to have a nosey...what is the nook behind the kitchen facing the alfresco? could quite make it out, love the plan! what colours are you going with in the kitchen? Hi, it's going to be an office e-nook. When we asked them to put the amari kitchen in instead of the resort, we has a little e-nook corner, but with the new kitchen being considerably bigger we now have a long slim office type area. So we added a large window for the light and we are having workbench at the bottom of the space with cupboards above and the bench will continue along the length of the wall too. It's quite a long space so we can sit with the kids doing homework there. We are going to fill the length of the wall with magnetic boards too so the kids can display their work. I was really worried about this space, but now we have worked out what to do with it we feel it is really a workable space. The main thing with the house was that we didn't want corridors or rooms that weren't used so hopefully we have achieved this. However, only 3 bedrooms in use and would love to fill the 4th with a baby, but hubby not sure - I keep telling him it is a waste of space and we should fill it - lol Colour wise lustrous elm and a pale grey shiny one too, with nougat ceasar stone. Splashback is also nougat ceasar stone with aluminium spalshback above the cooker top. The wet areas are a white shiny cupboard face and linen caesar stone (which is like a very pale beige) and the floor tiles are almost identical colour, white wall tiles and the border tile is long slim vertical rectangle pieces of glass in a variety of greys, beige and clear glass to match the neutral earthy tones of the house. We have also chosen a grey carpet for the bedrooms and cinema. So, we are boring beige, white, grey neutral house! We were gonna go crazy with colour but decided against it - wimps . However, we told the kids they could have their rooms and their kids room any colour and they could choose exactly what they want Big mistake! My 3 year old wants cerise pink walls - all of them - not a feature wall! My son wants blue walls! They have chosen an orange leather sofa for their play room!!! I am hoping by October, November they change their mind, but if not we will have one very bright and exciting part of the house although I am going to keep my word and let them choose!!!! sheznay We walked through the amari - in wanneroo? I loved the sunken lounge... the kitchen layout is great too. I remember that pantry! When do you have prestart? Hi Sheznay We are only taking the kitchen out of the amari because I walked in and just fell in love with it! It is just so big and the WIP really got me! Fortunately it fit in our existing house plan! I love the amari too - the decor and just everything about that house is gorgeous, but I personally think it is a house that is suitable more to single people of couples without children due to the open plan layout. We had pre-start last week. Was a little disappointed at the end as we paid extra for the kitchen and it turns out that the substantial extra amount didn't cover everything!!! The sales guy has also priced things up wrong - e.g. double glass doors from entry to lounge, priced non-glass so extra $1300 on top of the $800 additional cost! Front door selected and he priced - again a cheaper one priced!!!!!!!!!! Kitchen - showed him exactly what we wanted and alot of things not included even though he said they were, such as no handles in the kitchen - extra $1,200 needed for flush lines!!! We have not been happy as we showed him the exact kitchen as per show room that we wanted! Anyway, other than that we are hoping to be getting the slab on our dirt in April - very excited about this. So, I need to catch up on everyone else's progress and will do as soon as pre-start is over with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone xxxxx Re: Building with DAH - N & J - Resort/Amari Mix 20Feb 17, 2011 12:26 pm Hey, PLEASE PLEASE if anyone knows anything about Fibre Connect Pack, priced at $1585.00 can they help?
