Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 31, 2015 11:18 am Under what circumstances is an edge beam required? Our quote says 'Concrete edge beam to support slab against boundary $1980'. I understand this would only be along the edge of the garage at zero boundary with a 200mm gap between the garage wall and the fence. Originally the draughtperson had a retaining wall in this gap (at 500mm high) which was crazy, she has altered plans but has left that retaining in but our builders have put in this edge beam and its the first we've heard of it. We had been told at one of our meetings they would just 'extend' the garage floor to the boundary or is that the same thing?
