I think we may need the "luck of the Irish" as we go on our building adventure from some of the stories I've read but we are confident that we have chosen a good builder. My DH called to let me know that we have pegs on the block and the Dechellis sign - at last there is "movement at the station". Will keep you posted as things progress and thanks again For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 28Feb 06, 2011 11:03 am I am going to try downloading some pictures and colour selections .. this is the kitchen in the display home which we haven't changed too much apart from changing to a 900mm cooktop with cast iron trivents and 900mm rangehood, larger handles on the cupboards, changed the mixer and added some pot drawers and space for the microwave. The cupboards are Straight Grain Wenge and the benchtop is Essastone New Crystal Salt (20mm thick). We are having the same floor tiles, paint colour is Solver Parchment throughout the house and planning to have a shutter on the kitchen window. We are also having the linear slots for the aircon as they look kool! http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff440/Nicholl72/IMG00080-20110116-1559.jpg For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Love your kitchen & the selections, you will love the pot drawers. Won't be long before you have a slab look forward to following your build. I am stoked at the support you have received - you must be feeling pretty chuffed. I think I might investigate making the trip to Sydney in June to meet you and the others. Are you home yet? Hi Rebecca - I thought a picture of the site scrape would be pretty boring but I have a picture of the block before the scrape if that will do! We are lucky that all the houses around us are established and the fencing is all done. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff440/Nicholl72/IMG_1745.jpg For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 33Feb 06, 2011 8:43 pm Your land looks like a nice flat easy building block & the fences are a bonus. I am still in hospital as I still have a drain attached, hopefully not in here for to much longer. It would be great if you can make the June get together. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 37Feb 08, 2011 8:08 am Great news Rebecca! Yes we are very lucky with a fairly flat block already fenced. DH has met a couple of our lovely neighbours already and we've been invited for a glass of wine I've read some horror stories on this site about disputes over fences so that's one huge problem we won't have and it's a lovely quiet street. I love walking past the block on the weekends when I walk the dog. We are renting not far away from the block so we are getting to know the area really well andl loving it. The whole reason for moving is a change of lifestyle and we have that now so we're pretty happy. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 38Feb 08, 2011 2:18 pm Annette, how on earth did I miss your thread!!!!! I just stumbled upon it and see that its been going for AGES! Your block looks great - how big is it? It looks large from the photos. I cant wait to see the portoloo picture as you will know you are so close to the start then. Its going to be so exciting to follow your thread so look forward to lots of posts from me! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! My View thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38242&hilit=dechellis+magill Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 39Feb 08, 2011 2:27 pm Thanks Robbie - I will look forward to sharing the build with you as I really enjoyed your thread and still am. The block is 600 sq metres - 30 metres deep and 20 across. The house is 14 metres wide so we had 6 metres to play with and it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago I suddenly wondered if we had put the house in the right spot We have 2 metres on the garage side (right hand side of the pic) which will be the shady side in summer and 4 metres on the "dead" side of the house which will give us plenty of garden down that side so we can plant things to provide some shade on that side of the house. To keep you going will I have some news here's a picture of the study in the display home - I love it http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff440/Nicholl72/IMG_1715.jpg For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!!
