Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1328May 28, 2012 1:57 pm On a happier note work has started today on a small pergola at the back of the house which will provide some shade from the hot summer sun and once it's up we plan to add a screen to hide the neighbours fence and cut the glare from their roof and then we'll add a water feature, some lawn, plants, a shed ....... it's the start of our back garden!!! The pergola's done - now we need to raise the level of the soil to the same height as the existing pavers so we need to make a small retaining wall to protect the fence. We're going to put large pavers in that area then some lawn and garden beds. DH is going to make a screen across the back of the pergola not sure whether it will be blue board, wooden slats, or a combination of both or something else. The area in the far corner will be left at the lower height with a step down and we'll put a water feature or feature plant in there ... we'll make decisions as we go as it's hard to visualise beforehand but we've got lots of ideas.
