Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1425Jan 08, 2013 11:42 am beautiful Annette! Well done. And I just read on the House Orientation thread about the success of your house not being too hot in the summer - another tick for well done!! It's doing well so far. Arthur made another veggie box down that side too but it's still to be filled and it's been too hot!! The only failures so far have been the gardenias - I've just recently put them in a pot with some acidic potting mix so fingers crossed we don't lose all of them ... and we have been getting blossom end rot on the tomatoes we've had so far so we need to fix the watering regime ... Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1428Jan 08, 2013 1:01 pm Hi Mclaren, You have been busy, love your backyard, pergola area looks great and garden and lawn areas look really healthy. Gardenias are a favourite of mine, had heaps in our old house and they seem to do well, persevere if you can because the scent of them in summer is divine. I was hoping for your advice... I remember you have mentioned this once before, it's about the 'rubble driveway' cost of about $800. Now, from the onset of our build, there has been no issue in relation to access to our block. They have cut some wire fencing but that is about it. Last progress payment contained the break down of costs, there is a cost of the rubble driveway. They haven't put one down at all and are now charging us for it. I remember you saying that there was no requirement to do this?? Could you please refresh my memory on this one?? Amanda x Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1436Mar 14, 2013 9:10 pm Hi Amanda, If its not in yr contract then I cant see how they can charge you? We were asked and I said that I would do it myself(which i didnt) no issues. You would have had your final contract price did it include the $800 or is this a variation? I'd be disputing it. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1437Mar 15, 2013 2:05 pm I agree - it's a complete rip off. Tell them you'll do it yourself - there is no council or environmental requirement for this for a domestic building site - I checked. You can spend $800 on a lot better things than rubble .... We are still at selection stage. We just couldn't make decision between Café Latte and Aubergine. Could you please let me know which Dechellis display centre it is in your pics so we can go there have a look? Many thanks! Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1440Sep 04, 2014 5:01 pm Hi - sorry for the delayed response .. I don't get on here very often now. The display centre was in Aldinga Beach but the houses have been sold now ... although you can obviously still have a look from outside at the bricks ... good luck and hope my response is not too late!
