Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1284Apr 10, 2012 8:51 pm wildorchid Orchid Thanks for the info Annette. When we went to PGH for selections, we couldn't work out if to go for Brightonlite with yellow sand or not. We will now - thanks we used yellow too, i didnt actually realise there were different types until i read a few posts about people freaking out about the getting wrong colour lol. i think the yellow goes well with brown bricks, blends in rather than stands out Funny, that was what I was freaking out about as well I saw a couple of posts where people had said to make sure that brightonlite white was chosen, otherwise you'll end of with yellow bricks with the yellow sand........... I'm glad there there are some happy brightonlite yellow sand home builders out there ORCHID Final selections meeting: 20 April 2012 Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1285Apr 18, 2012 11:22 pm We have yellow sand mortar in our bricks (bricklaying just finished) and are happy with it. We have a rural block so are trying to build a house that blends in, which is the main reason for the yellow sand over white. I read the same posts about the white sand and got really nervous that we were making a bad decision, but now that I can see it I'm really happy with it. Or even cold winter nights - get some outdoor heaters going... love the life.... How long did it take for you to get council approval for the pergola? Hubby and I want an alfresco under the main roof but exceeds site coverage so we are looking into other options. Your kitchen bench looks HUGE, is that really what 4 metres looks like? Hi Nina, 4.29m actually .... it's like a stage and there's plenty of room for both of us behind there. Someone mentioned chopping the end off so you can access the pantry ... so glad we didn't do that! L x Thanks Linh, council approval was pretty quick actually - we asked our neighbours to sign the plan and a note to say they were happy with the design so I think that helped to get it through ... I really wanted an alfresco but in hindsight it would have made the house so dark so very happy with the pergola .. In building it's the litte things that count ..... 1291May 16, 2012 9:29 am Well I got home last night and had a very nice surprise ... DH had changed the waste in my ensuite sink to a pop up!! When finalising selections we were charged $25 for each sink to have chrome wastes which meant having a rubber plug .. didn't realise that at the time! So yesterday DH decided it was time to change them over .. for less than $40 for the 3 sinks ... from this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ to this .... Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1296May 16, 2012 10:35 am I guess it would have been a bit disappointing to pay for the chrome waste and then find you get a rubber plug We selected the standard sink but it does come with the 'small and classy' pop up waste https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis 1297May 16, 2012 10:36 am Well done Arthur!
