Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 13, 2011 9:27 am Hi Everyone, WOW has this forum been helpful. Well my fiancé and I have just signed our new home order with Burbank. We are building an Evolution 2300 in Wyndham Vale. I must say that so far we have been majorly disappointed with the way we have been treated by our sales consultant and her manager but I think we are finally getting somewhere *fingers crossed*. We started looking through display homes last year and absolutely fell in love with the Evolution, so i started ringing around and speaking to some people about the house. Towards the end of last year (1 week before Christmas) we finally sat down with a sales consultant from Burbank making changes (which she agreed too) and putting our deposit n the house and the land etc. We walked out of that meeting with HUGE smiles on our faces and were really excited. Our sales consultant then went on Christmas break and she left our case with her manager. TWO DAYS before Christmas he called me to finalise some of the details, I brought up all the changes we had spoken about with the sales consultant and he simply said NO. We couldn't make any of the changes we wanted to the house - ARGH!!!!! I was angry. I put it very simply to him and told him that if I couldn't make any of the changes she promised us I wanted our deposit back and i would find another builder. Coincidentally he made all the changes happen. Back and forth we kept going because they kept stuffing up our plans - FINALLY this morning we sent in our signed new home order and we are now just waiting for contracts to be sent through to us. I really hope the rest of the building process is a lot smoother than the process I have been through with the layout of the house. Have a great day everyone Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 2Jan 13, 2011 9:58 am Congratulations and welcome to Homeone! Which estate will you be building in? I hope the remainder of hyour build is more positive than what you have experienced so far Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 4Jan 13, 2011 10:39 am Hi Ashie...good to see that you got your changes and didn't budge....Have you gone through through colour selections @ Edge...this was def our highlight so far...hopefully you will enjoy yours too. When you go to the Edge do you do all your bricks and everything there or is that only for the internal finishes? Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 6Jan 13, 2011 11:29 am Welcome Ashie. Congrats on getting them to accept your changes. Good luck with your build. I hope it goes smoothly. I found the paperwork stage was the most painful out of the whole build. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 7Jan 13, 2011 11:35 am Hi Carlswil, Oh this stage has been the worst I hope the rest goes better too. We have had our home order passed onto admin so I'm hoping I don't have to speak to the sales people again. I have been so disappointed with the whole process so far but fingers crossed things start to get better!! What house did you build with Burbank? Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 8Jan 13, 2011 11:39 am I didn't build with Burbank. That's great if you don't have to deal with your sales person again. I hope you get decent admin staff to deal with, that know how to communicate. It's fantastic once they actually start, and you can see your house taking shape. Enjoy it! contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 10Jan 13, 2011 12:43 pm We're in SA, we built with Statesman Homes. That's great that your fiance is a builder. At least he'll know what to look out for, and will know if something's not done properly. contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 12Jan 13, 2011 12:50 pm that's so true. Our first block of land in Belle Meade estate fell $30k short at valuation and no one would budge on the price so we gladly pulled out of that contract (I wasn't putting in an extra $30k - that's another house deposit ). At this point my fiancé and I were furious, it was a Thursday night and we were suppose to be doing all of our colour selections the next day. In stead of selecting colours, we were looking through realestate.com at other blocks of land that were up for sale in the area. We noticed a nice block of land in Bluestone Green estate so I enquired straight away. It is 25% bigger than our first block and we managed to get the vendor down in price so we are practically paying the same amount as our last block but its BIGGER yay!! Our land settled last Tuesday after a long and drawn out 2 month delay, but its finally ours . We are currently waiting on our engineering report and building permit from Burbank then they can start our build YAY, we are so excited to start the building process. I will post pics of our floor plans etc soon - once i figure out how hehe Bye for now A Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 15Oct 13, 2011 11:57 am Hey Ashie, We are bulding with Burbank as well How's everything going for you? Have you finished the admin process as yet? Hey Sar&Andy, Which house are you building? Everything now is going great - We have finished our admin stage and the base stage for our house is now complete (earthworks, pipes, excavation & slab etc). Our frame is starting on Monday yippee - I am most excited! The admin stage was a very long long one - we never thought we would get here, and now everything is starting, we are really excited about it all. Where are you building? Re: Our new home with Burbank!!! 17Oct 13, 2011 7:06 pm Hi Ashie, I just finished my Evolution 2300. I built in Somerfield Estate in Keysborough. Expensive land, 400sqm at 284k. I think Burbank's contract stage is the worst, haven't heard any positive stories during that stage. When they start building, it gets better and faster. Even though i had many problems, its still worth it coz its our first house. Hey Ashie, We are building the Lamont 2600 Wow! Base stage completed! That's so exciting! Congratulations!! Yeah admin really does take a while, we were moving along really nicely, but now we are being held up by the council , our file has been sitting with them for 3 weeks and we were advised they generally give approvals within 2 weeks, so feeling a bit frustrated as we were hoping for site start prior to christmas But that's the way things go with building, best to expect the worst and be plesantly surprised when things go right lol! Hope to see some pics of your progress soon! Hi ginz88 The admin stage was such a drainer - it took so long, I thought this time would never have come. This is our first home as well, we are so excited at the progress. Our actual start date (after the slab had finished) was 10 October and since then they have finished our frame, facia and gutters and our roof covering is scheduled to start today/tomorrow so we are happy with the progress they have maid. As long as we can get to lock up by Christmas shut down my fiancé will be happy - he is a builder himself so he knows what people do over the shut down period, so as long as the house is locked up we will be ok.
