Actually, the screen name just appealed (but the show certainly doesn't)... that and I can say "flamin'" lots and trot out all sorts of great old Aussie sayings without being too (!) bogan! Anyhoo, the Coral thingy... there are a stack of great designs in their range... the wife (let's call her Ails, just to get up her nose!) has wanted to build as long as I've known her, so I've been trotted through squintillions of display homes in SEQ and Northern NSW. We found that in NSW, the Coral display homes didn't seem as well finished as they are up here these days, and that had a bearing on our perception of them in the beginning.... when it came to nutting out what we wanted when the time came to put our money down, there wasn't a lot of competition in our eyes when it came to what you got for what you paid. GOt a letter from them on Friday reckoning we're not gunna be in for Christmas, which was a bit of a bummber, but we can hope that they're just covering their butts, and we'll scrape in (otherwise Xmas lunch is on the driveway in the tiny joint we're renting.... or the Diner!) Turn it up, Ails! Re: Coral Homes 26Aug 23, 2008 8:30 pm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You never know. Do you have a start date? Our Brampton started on 19th Sept and we moved in on 2nd Dec.....yeah I know that was 11 years ago but they were quick! OMG how did i miss that he was Mr Grey. Re: Coral Homes 28Jun 24, 2009 8:27 pm I'm about to begin building a two storey Coral home, I'm doing a blog of the build process. Why have I started this blog? This will be our first house, one of the main reasons I've putting my blog together is to try and help other people that are building their first home, after going through this process so far I know how big of a task this is and I understand that people could benefit from the help of others, so that’s what I hope to do. We also found it very hard to find any information on two storey Coral homes, the only two storey Coral homes were down in Sydney, this is too far to travel for many people. After doing a search on the internet, we couldn’t find any information. I would like to make it much easier for people to know what to expect from a two storey Coral home. I plan on putting up lots of photos to help people out if they are deciding to choose a Coral two storey house. If anyone would like to follow my process here is the link http://twostoreycoralhome.blogspot.com/ . Good luck ![]() Re: Coral Homes 32Mar 21, 2010 1:20 am Hi cob79, I am also building with Coral Homes and the construction begins on Monday ![]() Re: Coral Homes 33Apr 03, 2010 11:58 am I am building a daydream 251 with coral. Build time has been 11 weeks to date and walkthrough is next week. should be moving in by end of april. They have been really good Re: Coral Homes 35May 14, 2010 9:36 am I've had a very nice experience so far. The house is half done. So far i havent had to intervene at all. The site supervisor has been giving me weekely updates and i inspect the house almost daily ![]() Re: Coral Homes 36May 14, 2010 9:52 am We are building with them too. We have taken forever as we changed plans to a Heron after working on their Hamilton plan for around 4 months! Apparently this itself would have given most builders a coronary but Coral were very accomodating. We made heaps of changes to the Hamilton which we thought were reasonably priced. The sales lady while initially being a bit of a cold fish (hope she isnt lurking here anywhere) did warm over time. She was patient & I guess maybe was wondering if we were serious with all the muking around we ended up doing. We made less changes to the Heron and none of the changes were a drama - except a couple of flat out 'no we dont do that'. I accepted this as sort of quality control - wont do it as htey have to guarantee their work? Once we went to contract we had a fair bit of contact with the admin staff. Ours was great but did get a bit pushy when the bank dragged their heels with the ACC letter. Anyway we are now in the early stages of the build (plumbing just gone in) and they have continued to provide a good customer service. We have been kept informed, have 24/7 access to the site & after speaking to a couple of the siteworks guys on the block, are happy we went with Coral. Their reputation within the industry has been confirmed by these guys & other builders & tradies we have met away from this project. Looking good so far - time will tell. Plenty of Coral builders on here on the Gold Coast & in Brissie so you should get a good idea what they are like. Time to stop waffling ![]() Cheers Kim Re: Coral Homes 37May 14, 2010 10:07 am ![]() How did everyones build with Coral go, we are looking at building with them but want to make sure they are decent to build with. Hi jbo, We are coming to the end of our build with Coral. You can check out our experience from beginning to end in my thread (link in sig). Check out the other Coral buildees blogs in the 'Building Blogs' section of this forum. I can't recommend them enough, the experience has definitely been a good one ![]() Good Luck. Whereabout are you going to be building? Which design are you considering? ![]() Re: Coral Homes 39May 14, 2010 11:14 am Finally, a new design for us to comment on ![]() I quite like the design jbo. The lounge and family areas are really huge. Thinking aloud and hope you dont mind, but dont you think the kitchen is too far away from your entrance. For me the kitchen is the first place i would like to go to when i come home from a tiring day. I am sure you must have considered it before finalising your design, and thats what the modification is. Re: Coral Homes 40May 14, 2010 2:42 pm The kitchen distance is not really a big deal for me and have lived in houses that were similar. Will be hopefully using the lounge area to put a bar and a pool table in. The modification will be extending the main bedroom and changing the layout of the WIR, ensuite and main bathrooms. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 3042 ![]() Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 8535 Maybe. What if you choose a builder, spend months planning, pay deposit, get contracts and you don't like the clauses? I'd judges short listing some builders and… 13 10730 |
