Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 181Nov 07, 2012 12:21 am I haven't heard about the petition or the clean up or the gum trees, what's it about? I agree with having the pear trees, I assume in place of the gums council planted? I can't see council removing the gums already planted though, bit of a waste. DH is always complaining about the lack of landscaping around the Aged Care home, I wonder if the developers were supposed to do it or if it is councils responsibility? Captain Morgan, where would you add the 50cm to? It doesn't sound much but I guess it makes all the difference. Your place is looking lovely now. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 182Nov 07, 2012 11:05 am i signed the petition......the guy a couple doors up from us started it. i heard it recently was handed over to the council, so i guess the developer wont do anymore.....all up to the council now. the park on reuben richardson rd is lovely........i wish they could do something like that on our reserve! Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 183Nov 12, 2012 12:18 pm anyone going to the council meeting tomorrow? (there is a sign near the entrance round a bout with the details) Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 185Nov 12, 2012 10:10 pm I had a read of the sign this evening, it says 'next Tuesday' so I guess tomorrow? Might see if we can make it. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 186Nov 13, 2012 4:44 am Hi DCT, Thanks, yes it is tonight. This is from the TTG website. A petition with 214 signatures was received by Council on 15 October 2012 from Mr Stephen Gray on behalf of the residents that live within “The Settlement” estate requesting that Council undertake works and other action as detailed below, in this new estate, to ensure residents can enjoy a suitable amenity of community The petition states: Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Part 4: Part 5: Petition Contact Person: Mr Stephen Gray The petition of the residents of the housing estate known as “The Settlement” at Golden Grove Draws the attention of the Council to the general poor standard of the recreational and open space areas, and the lack of facilities/amenities that currently exist within The Settlement estate at Golden Grove The petitioners therefore request that the Council take the following actions: 1. Provision of lawned play area 2. Provision of a suitable children’s playground 3. Provision of public seating to various locations 4. Improve the level of maintenance to existing dry reserves 7. Consult with the local residents on any proposals The Names, address and signatures of the petitioners. The petition has been referred to Thornton Harfield, Director Assets and Environment for action. Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 187Nov 13, 2012 1:37 pm My name is Stephen and I live in the settlement estate. After living here for a year now it became obvious that the recreational and open space areas had been forgotten about, and the lack of facilities/amenities was frustrating. So four weeks ago I wrote a petition and spent the weekend gathering 214 signatures from the residents’ of the estate. Later that week I meet a councillor Mr Jim McLafferty (0403049070) at home and after some discussion we toured the estate taking photos of the neglect to present to council. (Jim is very approachable) Last weekend I put a sign up to let people know about the council meeting, hoping that some would come along to let the council know that we are not happy. The council meeting is tonight the 13th of November commencing at 7pm at the Civic Centre, 571 Montague Road Modbury. Hoping to see you there, for any more info please don’t hesitate to contact me Regards Stephen 0403170491 Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 189Dec 15, 2012 9:29 am I guess those at the Sett1ement received their letter from C0uncil in regards to the new playground on Tusca n Road with some seating provided? It should be ready for use in April. Hopefully this is just the start of the improvements in our area https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 191Dec 23, 2012 3:54 pm I must admit it looks quite small when I first saw it, but hopefully its just the start. I also see there is some mulch going in around some of the council strips. How is that going to look in 3 months time ?? Yes its better than dust and weed, but quite frankly its still not good enough for the prices we paid for our land, and the BS Land SA spun to us about the area being landscaped, nice parks etc. Why do parkwood residents get grass on their council strips ? greenwith estate was handed over to council from Delfin years and years ago, and that is still in pretty good shape, why cant we be treated the same ? Why is Spring Hill kept so "well kept" ? Surely with all this recycled water there is opportunity for some greenery instead of treating our brand new estate as a dumping ground for mulch. Id be happy to pay an additional fee to the council if it meant better than average streetscapes. And yes as a hallett road resident I am thinking of myself here but I hope I dont have to look at those ugly fences at the end of my street for much longer, why cant they sell of those remaining blocks so at least we have the street lined with houses before they release the rest of the land in X years time.... if it ever happens. /end rant. Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 192Jan 09, 2013 3:45 pm i agree, those fences are ugly. i heard something along the lines of that stage being too close to the quarry to be built??? i was driving from highland shops back to the settlement, and that part of golden grove road is so nicely tree lined, right up to the round about at the school, then the school to our estate is bad too! i never really noticed, because i dont often drive that way, but now i know how nice the other side is! we pay enough council rates, they should just do it without a fuss Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 194Jan 12, 2013 9:36 pm That doesnt make sense, the council doesnt need their permission...i think the absence of the rest if the estate is holding thst up.... Not as mant houses= not as msny customers. Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 195Jan 12, 2013 9:59 pm The protest may be for their application for a Liquor licence. That is probably the first step in the process before they can get council approval, but hopefully it all goes through. Would love to see a Tavern & shops up there. Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 196Jan 13, 2013 11:13 am We are really surprised how many people within the estate are happy to leave their rubbish outside of full skips to blow around the streets. Seems a shame that people have gone to the effort to petition council about their lack of care of The Settlement yet some people let their rubbish fill the streets Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 197Jan 15, 2013 11:05 am A tavern and shops would be wonderful. It would help deliver a better return for everyone's investment in building in this estate. Lets be honest, its not a terribly appealing area right now, and one play set (whilst being great for kids) isnt going to be a game changer... just visit some of the playgrounds in Greenwith and you will know what im talking about. Then perhaps they can turn it into a nightclub on Thursday nights, it would be the only one of its kind in the NE suburbs. Oh hang on, someone did that already....... re: Rubbish dumping - probably nothing more than a case of "Pay it forward" - eg "someone dumped old toys in my builders miniskip, so I will dump my rubbish in someone elses... builder X ripped me off, so I will get them back through higher tippage fees" But I do concur with your sentiments. That, and those sandbags that block the drains. Wonder if its council or LandSA's job to take them out. Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 198Jan 16, 2013 4:12 pm It'll definitely be nice to have the tavern near by. We are in such a deep pocket in The Settlement, too far away from anywhere to walk to, so we're looking forward to having somewhere to go for a meal that's within walking distance. Hopefully make for some nice summer nights We get the pay it forward system, and understand that people would use the skips in the area but really can't understand dumping the rubbish around the full bins and out onto the road especially when the boxes that are being dumped have names and addresses labelled on them. No doubt the sandbags are part of the serenity until either you, I or any other person living in the estate gets rid of them Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 199Jan 17, 2013 7:25 pm Ive git the perfect solution. I will use those sandbags to hold down all the rubbush littering other peoples minni skips. Why are priates scary ?
