Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 07, 2007 4:20 pm We are at 5 months of construction and have unfinished wall wrap and no bricking as yet.
2 months ago nothing happened for 6 weeks and now nothing has happened for 3 weeks. This is what just happened after I complained to the state manager, construction manager and general manager: Just got a call from our supposed construction manager who had the nerve to give me a bit of his own attitude. He told me that he had spoken to our supervisor and that he had advised he had called us last week; I told him that I hadn't heard from him for 2 weeks and then he said that if it were some of the other supervisors he would believe me...!! I basically ended up raising my voice and telling him that I wouldn't be taking things this far if I had been called and that this is the 2nd time we have been subject to nothing happening for weeks and no phonecalls returned. He then goes on to say that they will pull phone records if they have to - implying basically that he was more interested in arguing about whether someone had called us. He then said that the Brickies are due to be there this weekend but that there is no guarantee. I said to him how long is this supposed to go on!! and then he had the nerve to say: "If you can get me a brickie started there quicker you go ahead and organise it" - I said, "well mate why don't you look at the house 2 doors down from us being built by Hallmark because that started 5 weeks ago and the bricking is finished". I asked him about our completion date of 19/01/08 and he said he doesn't know what the contract details are but if that's what they agreed to then they will work with that. He was basically cocky, unrelenting and only apologised at the very end. But he made it quite clear that there is no guarantee and that when Brickies stuff ***** around they will have to stuff them around in return??? what the hell is that supposed to mean??? I was beginning to go wild and people in my office were getting concerned, so I just said: "lets see what happens" and then he said "bye, have a good weekend." This is a big warning to anyone thinking of building with M3tricon. If you think you can deal with this kind of crap, go ahead. Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07. It's been 2 weeks to Handover for the past 8 weeks. Go figure. Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 2Dec 07, 2007 4:22 pm BTW

Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 11Dec 07, 2007 5:09 pm Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no way known they could do a quality job to finish by the 19th Jan. And personally I would not want them to. I understand you are p1ssed and rightly so, but I would be cautious if they say that they can still deliver on the 19th. If the are adament they will, I would be strongly suggesting the services of an inspector. What he is saying is that they can finish bricking (assuming you have a roof), plaster, install aircon, install kitchen, tile, paint, fitout and plumb in 5 weeks, INCLUDING XMAS!!. I dont think so. Generally over xmas they take three weeks off, so this leaves 2 weeks for the above. No hope there, not unless he is Angry Anderson, and you are a local childrens hospital. ![]() ![]() Enjoy Christmas, relax with some (lot) xmas brandy and make the most of your holidays. Adrian B Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 13Dec 07, 2007 5:47 pm When politicians start bleating about housing shortages and the lack of "new building starts", I think they should be directed to threads like these for a slice of real life. The hassles are ridiculous.
There needs to be much more accountability in the building industry to make this process fairer and less stressful. It shouldn't be up to individuals to have to get angry and twist arms to get basic service. Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 14Dec 07, 2007 7:39 pm ![]() This is what just happened after I complained to the state manager, construction manager and general manager Ricci, if that's the response that you recived from the "construction manager" then i woul dhave complained to the state and general managers again. I have had issues too, but speaking with the right people really does help. They must have someone in the heirarchy that has some speck of dedication to Customer satisfaction. When we looked at Metricon, the 12 month building timeframe really turned us off. It's bad enough at 9 months from start to finish. Don't put up with it,elevate it as much as you can. It worked wonders for me..... Good Luck Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 16Dec 08, 2007 7:50 am I'm amazed that they didn't just b;ame it on the rain. Here in Brissie they see a dark cloud and freak out! When I speak to my friends that are building at the moment, they are all having problems with getting any work on their house, except Dixon. Makes me happy I'm going with them.
Hope it all works out for you, I would be furious and calling the state manager twice a day. Be a pain in the a***. ![]() Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 17Dec 08, 2007 8:44 am Sorry to hear that Ricci. I thought it had been a while since you updated!
I hope things get sorted, but their attitude seems a bit (lot) out of line. It's their problem, so make it theirs - not yours. QLD seems to be run differently to Vic? We can't complain so far, but the waiting with no communcation is not acceptable. When did you get given a finish date? We've had no date - not even an estimation. The only thing was the "time frame" but that's no guarantee - they can be early or run over time. Phoenix - who told you it would take 12 months? We were told 6-8 months. Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 18Dec 08, 2007 10:08 am Hi Ray, we were told by the M3tricon sales rep. From your first deposit to handover is a 12 month process. That put us right off - like the houses- but not that much....
6-8 months sounds just like the actual physical build time to me - not including tender, contract signing, colour selection etc. no excuse 19Dec 08, 2007 10:29 am ![]() Hi Ray, we were told by the M3tricon sales rep. That put us right off - like the houses- but not that much.... 6-8 months sounds just like the actual physical build time to me - not including tender, contract signing, colour selection etc. We had our double story house build in 4 months. There is no excuse for lack of work on the house so long. We did received the letter that it could be, sometimes there will be no work for a few weeks but it never happened. Anyway 5 months and not even under bricks means: or they signed up to many contract and the house is waiting for its turn or they dont have enough people to do the work. There is a second clarendon house being build near my house. The first one took 12 months to build and second one looks like the same. The first one has so many faults. I met the owners and they said their tiles in bathroom are FALLING OFF. that is just incredible... My friends in Melbourne approached Metricon and they have been told it will be minimum 12 months of construction. I just cannot believe... where are WE in this whole story? We are the CUSTOMERS?! cheers kate Re: To Anyone Thinking About M3TRICON READ THIS 20Dec 08, 2007 5:02 pm Sorry Phoenix, I assumed you meant 12 month build time - not from sale to move in. It will probably be pretty accurate - we signed our first papers in Feb 2007, but there have been a few minor hold ups along the way and without these I'd say we would have been moving in about now. As it stands it'll probably be late Jan, Feb or possibly March before we are in - depending on if anything is done over Chrissy (we have been told work can be done, it's up to the tradies if they work), and if there are any more hold ups. According to their "20 week construction" (I think that's an average) we should be done by 1st Feb. We don't get late payments from them before either 16th March 2008 or 8th May 2008 (depending if the 242 days is from contract or site start). I hope it's before then!
