Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 05, 2011 7:33 pm Hi everybody, I (aged 22) just brought a block of land, and expecting to have the house pad down by the end of Jan. Settlement went thru on the 9th of December. On the 25 We decided to drive to our block and have a little look on Christmas day, noticed someone has dumped a fair load of sand, building rubble. Had a look around the street everyone is pretty much in and living. I spoke to the neighbors and it appears this has been here back in nov before I brought. I've emailed the land owner estate and they are refusing to remove the sand since I figured it was there before I brought it. Now Christmas holidays is over and they've replied to my email 2 weeks later they are claiming its been 4 weeks since settlement and its too late now. As you can probably tell I'm really frustrated, I was hoping somebody might be able to point me in a good direction where I can stand on my own two feet against them. Thanks in advance Re: Need advice, on dumped sand. 2Jan 05, 2011 8:45 pm Doesn't sound right to me... my understanding is that it the way it was when you inspected before purchase that is the decider. If the rubble was there then, it's your problem. See the person who did your conveyancing... Otherwise, you join the long line of victims from this practice....me included ! Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. We were on holiday when settlement went through and we forgot to make sure it was cleared. Hence, we also bought the rubbish. We have had to pay $320 to have it removed unfortunately. If you think it was dumped recently, have a look at nearmap and see if there is any difference in photos of your block. The bobcat driver took the piping etc. It was quite satisfying giving it back to the developer. I'm putting a new floor in my kitchen, slate flagging on a standard concrete slab.
